Would really like to see some detail in those blacks...
-
Great tones, but, unfortunately, the sky looked immediately artificial to my eye. The Image obviously has great depth of field, but the clouds appear artificially blurred (as well as the tree on the left). The image also appears over sharpened, but that could just be the resizing for the net.

I feel like your pumped a bit too much flash into her shadowed side. Maybe a softer light or a warming gel would have helped avoid the bluish flashy glare and shadow behind her arm.

My opinion is that you've photoshopped in too much contrast. The hightlights in his hair are blown out completely and his eyes are jet black with no detail and therefore no life. The angle and his expression are good, but subtler tones would better fit his smile the softness of his youth.

I just looked through your portfolio of smoke photos and was absolutely amazed. Thanks for your description of how you achieve the colors. I like the shots on the white background the best. Would you mind sharing what you use for your smoke source (an extinguished candle or insence?) Do you form the smoke in by blowing or anything or just let it go however it will and shoot away? I'm very anxious to try this. Your work is very provacative and beautiful. Thanks again.

I definately saw a woman as soon as I looked at this. I think that this could be a classic photo BUT I think the colors are a bit too wild. I would like to see a black and white version. But that's obviously not your vision for this shot and I respect that. I'm just thinking that with more subtle colors there would be a broader range of emotional responses possible and one's focus would be ont the tones and form of the smoke and not the colors. This image has so much potential. Thanks for sharing.
Man, that really does look like a sitting woman...

Not sure what, but this looks off. I'd be willing to bet that there has been some serious manipulation of some kind here. The background looks artificial and it almost seems that the bird has been cut and pasted or something. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but my gut tells me that something is going on. Something makes me uncomfortable looking at this image.

Certainly do not touch the skin with any amount of Gaussian Blur. This is pure and honest and lovely the way it is.

ssscary... I love the depth of field here and the congrast between the muted... thing.. and the vivid sweater.

His color and detail are amazing, but I'm concerned that he isn't all in focus. The top of his head and his wing are sharp, but in between is not. Also, the background is quite distracting. I know that often that can't be helped, but maybe you could burn it in or something in Photoshop.

Interesting textures. However, overall this looks to be way over-saturated. Those green fronds look like they're radioactive!

Interesting texture and contrasts. I saw the small bug and Thought, hmm.. that's a big flower. Then as I scrolled down and saw the large bug I was a little surprised. :o) Would have ranked a little better for aesthetics if the lighting were softer and the small bug weren't so close to the edge of the frame. Just my opinions. Good shot nonetheless!5/6

Just curious. It seems that unless you were using a lot of fill flash the geese would be backlit a lot more harshly. Of course their lightness could be due to dodging/burning or shadow/hightlight use in photoshop.

Ha. Funny choice of categories! Underwater...

Not sure exactly what I'm looking at here. Also, on my monitor and to my eyes the highlights looks way blown out. Interesting texture though.

Oh, by the way, I do like the contrasts of moods, textures, and colors in this image. Good Shot. :)

This photo could benefit from more contrast in the midtones. You have the whites and blacks (maybe too white in the sky area- you could crop some of that out) Here's a trick that I've picked up for adding midtone contrast and "pop" to a photo. In Photoshop apply "unsharp mask" with an amount of 20 and a radius of 50. It sounds weird, but try it and look at the before and after. You'll be amazed.

Softer light and a tighter crop would help this. The left side is awfully black.

How much of this is real? It looks more like a 3d rendering than a manipulated photo. I think that this would be better off without the very artificial looking sun in the upper right.
