Ralph, I think the colors of the image are amazing. You were there at a great time. Just as Larry I would suggest a different crop. Focusing on the color of the sunset in rocks and clouds I would have cropped about half of the hoodoos. In my opinion, since they are in the shade already, they distract from the amazing background. Gustavo, this is probably my favorite one. The colors, the diagonal composition, they all result in a very pleasing image. I think you handled the exposure pretty well too. Yes, the sky is almost featureless, but it doesn't matter because, in my opinion it shows the hot (or soon to be hot) day, and there is plenty of nice detail in the runners. Well done.

Hi Gustavo, Obviously I like some pictures in your portfolio better than others. The runners coming up the hill tell a story of heat and (possibly) exhaustion. That's probably my favorite one because it tells a story that's not obvious. I also like the black and white leather abstract (IMG_0792). Others I enjoyed less. They seemed snapshots or experiments with your camera, but they didn't tell me much. The image of the rain drops in front of green foliage is one of them. The image of Lassen is obviously taken in unflattering, difficult light - not much many of us can do about that as we can't wait around for hours, so you did the best you could. Happened to me plenty of times. Here, however, I probably would have changed the composition, omitting the pine branches in the foreground and focusing on the volcano towering above the green hills. That would be my story of Lassen: a pretty big volcano popping out of relatively modest foothills. So I took your image, cropped it severely, darkened and increased the microcontrast for the ridge in the foreground a bit (sloppily, as I may say, but you get the idea), decreased the blues a bit, and increased overall contrast. Alright, enough said. Christoph

I love the uncommon angle and the resulting symmetries, but what really drew me in were the grayish, somewhat desaturated leaves with the brighter tips, and the dark green background Also, the PeeDee river must be close to the PeeDee formation, the source for a stable isotope standard widely used in geology.
