Just out of Black Diamond not far from my home they've done some logging. This lone tree, probably left for environmental reasons, sits on the top of a hill and I've photographed it many times. This particular evening the clouds were very dramatic and I really feel the B&W treatment lends to the drama of the scene. I can't help but feel a little sad for this tree having lost all of his forest mates, I wonder what tale he would tell if only he could? I hope you enjoy the image and I value any and all feedback.

...more scars upon the land

John Denver, an artist I much admired, had a line in one of his songs; "more people, more scars upon the land". This line came to me as I was editing this image and I think it's appropriate. This tree is along side an old logging road that is no longer being used, unfortunately they left some cable wrapped around it and the tree is growing over the cable on most of the sides. This tree will not live as long as it would have had they properly cleaned up after logging. I thought about putting this in the "Documentary" category but opted for landscape. I'd love to hear what you do or do not like about my interpretation of the this, in my opinion, sad scene.
