  1. Just out of Black Diamond not far from my home they've done some logging. This lone tree, probably left for environmental reasons, sits on the top of a hill and I've photographed it many times. This particular evening the clouds were very dramatic and I really feel the B&W treatment lends to the drama of the scene. I can't help but feel a little sad for this tree having lost all of his forest mates, I wonder what tale he would tell if only he could? I hope you enjoy the image and I value any and all feedback.

  3. Another fantastic shot Dominic. I assume this is a multiple exposure composite? Superbly done my friend, keep up the great work!

    Glowing!

Absolutely beautiful. Well done on all levels, congrats!!

    New Horizons

I've been thinking about getting that filter and this image is furthering my thought process :-) Fantastic on all levels, I especially love the toning. Congrats indeed.
  6. Very dramatic light perfectly captured and presented. Congrats indeed!!
  7. Your choice of toning with the high contrast really help to make this a great image. Well done.

    Crosses in the sky!

What a wonderful shot! Great job both aesthetically and technically. Congrats indeed.
  9. Nicely done, I really like how the shadows create a 3-D effect on the boardwalk. Congrats.

    Opera Hall

I really like this image however, I do find the out of focus beam (or wall) in the upper left corner a little distracting. Beautiful toning, well done.
  11. Great DOF, I would burn the bright spot on the big rock in the middle/right of the image. Otherwise, superbly done, congrats.

Simply wonderful. Images like this should be shown to the leaders of all countries and maybe we could find a way to stop killing each other. Congrats on a wonderful capture of our sad history.
  13. Nicely done Maria! While this image appears to have been shot at a high ISO setting, which can sometime ruin a picture, in this one it really helps with the overall mood. Wonderful composition as well, again, nicely done.

A wonderful vantage for sure, I would recommend returning (if possible) at a more photogenic time of day, early morning or late afternoon, as this would give a more pleasing light.

    Autumn ark

You ability to consistently capture such vibrant colors and stunning detail is truly enviable.  Congrats on another wonderful image.
  16. Definitely an "old world" painting feel, very original.

    Rest....assured!

Laurent, they are both good to be sure but I do prefer the modified crop. It feels much more balanced. Keep up the great work.

    Rest....assured!

Another strong image for sure, but I wonder if placing the church and and crosses a little lower might improve the overall composition. Just a thought. Regardless, very well done.
  19. Beautiful shot. I love the composition, color, and overall feel. The glassy water is in perfect harmony with the foggy scene. Congrats indeed.

    Gum Drops

Extremely well done. This image printed on a textured paper would make a stunning display for sure.
  21. A very strong image for sure, I would however, clone out the fingers; they seem to draw my eyes away from the child. Even so, I love this image.
  22. A very nice abstract. Nicely done
  23. This image has a very ominous feel to it that is well presented. Nice composition and processing.
  24. I decided to post this in the Documentary category as I believe that is where it belongs. Let me know if you agree or not.
  25. John Denver, an artist I much admired, had a line in one of his songs; "more people, more scars upon the land". This line came to me as I was editing this image and I think it's appropriate. This tree is along side an old logging road that is no longer being used, unfortunately they left some cable wrapped around it and the tree is growing over the cable on most of the sides. This tree will not live as long as it would have had they properly cleaned up after logging. I thought about putting this in the "Documentary" category but opted for landscape. I'd love to hear what you do or do not like about my interpretation of the this, in my opinion, sad scene.
