The last rays of the setting sun manage to set the tops of the
mountains on fire from underneath an ominous thunderstorm. From my
vacation in Villars, Switzerland.

Taken yesterday. Finally an evening without rain! Thanks for your

Villars, Switzerland. Taken last week. Sunset light from a sky just
clearing from a thunderstorm. I have another photo from this series
in my portfolio. Thanks for your critique.

Taken a few days ago in the Swiss Alps. Finally the clouds cleared
just enough to allow the last sunrays to paint the mountains with
warm sunset light.

...Long live the miller.
The blades of the windmill are set in mourning position (with the
top blade at 5 min to 12). The miller died two months ago. At the
same time the reflection shows the mill with the blades in "Joy"
setting (5 min past 12). Perhaps to welcome its new miller. There
seems to be a new one as I've seen the mill working about a week
ago.
Another photo of the same mill I uploaded some weeks ago shows the
blades in the same position. I thought it was to mourn the death of
our previous queen, but it appeared to be for the miller instead.

Do you find the yellow flowers in the foreground distracting?

Ground mist in a Dutch polder
-
Thank you!

There are several other photos of this subject in my portfolio. I
like this one for the framing silhouette and the sky.
-
Thanks for the comment. Your suggested crop is nice too, but I used a vertical format to underline the gradient from bottom dark to sky bright.

All Dutch windmills are set with their wings in this way to
communicate the death of our previous queen Juliana.
Meet my Dutchie
in Portrait
Posted
I love my dog, Farah. She's a Dutch Shepherd dog, a Dutchie as they
say in the USA. Not a German Shepherd or a Malinois, but a separate
and rare breed. There are only about 2000 truebred Dutchies in the
Netherlands and a couple more in other countries, mostly in the USA.
Dutchies are very intelligent and agile, very loyal though a bit
opiniated and they have a good sense of humour.
As they're frequently mistaken for wolves, hyenas or crossbreds
thereoff, they make great protection dogs. No problem to send your
16 year old daughter out for a dogwalk through the park at night.
Here's her portrait. I think it nicely reflects her character: proud
and selfassured, alert and fierce (nothing that shows how chicken
she hides under the bed with thunder and lightning ;-)
