  1. Hello, I like Shawn want to start using selenium toner But like him I also have questions...

question #1: what dilution will give me the blue/purple tones?

question #2: all my chemicals are kept in 5 gallon containers how do I go about filtering the selenium when it starts to get weak?

question #3: also what is an indicator that I need to filter the solution?

question #4: I use photo-flo 200 when making prints, can selenium toner be used with it?

thanks for any answers any of you may have, Christian Hanner

  2. My Problem: as of late I have had a few rolls of black & white 120

film that had a discoloration to it. normally an even blue/grey but

recently its blue/grey with areas mainly in the centers of frames

that have a yellowish coloring this has happened with several

different cameras so I know its not a camera issue.

    the chemicals I use:

    kodak xtol developer

28% acetic acid diluted to stop bath

    kodak fixer

    running water wash

    photo-flo 200

I use all the chemicals for the suggested time specified by the

    manufacturer.

also if the chemicals are expired how do I go about properly

disposing of them?...and collecting the silver?

Thanks for any inputyou may have to give, Christian Hanner

  3. I would get a prism finder to use in the rain or any inclement weather. I suggest the Prism Finder Model 2 For RB , thats what I use. it corrects things so you see them as they are, which saves spit-second time composing the frames. Its also about half the price of the metered prism finder. hope this is something of a help to you Robert.
  4. hey Steve,

the Mamiya 645 has a built in meter.

and its more lightweight than the larger medium formats.

In my opinion the mamiya 645 is a good first MF SLR camera.

I have one I'm not using anymore with 2 lenses

    a 55mm F2.8 & a 80mm F2.8 both in great shape!

a pistolgrip with a brand new SUNPAK 383 flash I also have a brand new hard locking metal case to include in the setup all for $600.

If You're interested I can be contacted at CLHannerArtDesigns@hotmail.com

    Thanks for reading this response,

  5. If the base of your worries are the weight factors of the camera ever try a Mamiya 645 they are much lighter than the 6X7 Medium Format lot. I have a mamiya 645 setup to sell for $600 which includes 2 lenses a 55mm F2.8 and an 80mm F2.8 plus a PistolGrip that you can connect the Sunpak 383 Flash to so you need no sync cords. I can be contacted by email at CLHannerArtDesigns@hotmail.com

  6. You may also want to look into a Mamiya 645 if you're just starting out in medium format.they aren't 6 cm X 7 cm, they are 6cm X 4.5cm

they are much more lightweight which makes them less cumbersome than the more awkward and bulky Hasselblad sized Medium Format.

the mamiya has a built-in light meter so you should need to carry another. I have a Mamiya 645 with 2 Lenses a 55mm F2.8 and a 80mm F2.8 both are MAMIYA-SEKOR C Lenses It also has a pistolgrip and a brand new SUNPAK 383 flash I can sell this to you or any interested party for $600. If interested you can reach me through email at CLHannerArtDesigns@hotmail.com

    Thanks for reading this response.
