I also agree with Erik. I searched long and hard last year and the Minolta came out the clear
winner, especially if you get Erik's Scanhancer!
-
That's what I thought as well.
-
Sorry - that was meant to be a question... trying again:
Are you guys sure?
-
Are you guys sure. I could be wrong, but I thought only the series II could be used with AF-S
lenses. Or is it the "E" that designates use with AF-S lenses?
-
We say that here, too.
BTW - I love my 300 f4, now that I have a Kirk tripod mount. For the money, it's great.

I second Cameta. Though I use B&H for 90% of my needs, Cameta has been great for my big-
ticket purchases. I've bought a D2X and numerous lenses from them over the years with no
problems.
The only negative is that Cameta will not refund your money in the event you want to return
something. You can make exhanges up to two weeks after your purchase. If you need to
return something to B&H, you get back your dough.

I can't possibly see how the Spyder can calibrate a digital projector seeing as how it has to
attach or rest on the surface of whatever screen it is calibrating. I have 4 DLP projectors at
my recording studio, and my only experience with properly calibrating them is to have them
ISF calibrated, which requires a tech to
actually come out and do it. And it ain't cheap - about $300 per unit.

Man, I thought that shutter release on my D2X looked a lot like the overdrive button in my
Galant.

I got an FM3a + 45/2.8 purely to have a "carry everywhere" camera.

Me too!

Another recommendation for Hogan's guide. Very useful tips...

I actually notice slightly better performance from my aftermarket (Lexmar I think?) battery
than I do from the OEM battery.
-
I've also been using the LensPen. It's been great!

the D50 responds much more quickly than most compact P&S digicams

You can say that again. The D50 and D70 are light years beyond any digital point-
and-shoot I've ever used, and the D70 doesn't feel (in real use) all that much worse than my
D2x in that regard. Charles is a little off, I'm afraid.
-
Nikon D70 or D50 - no question. There are some great kits
to be had for right at and even well below
your price point.

I got paid for some stuff I did using some AIS lenses - does that count?
-
I'm in my 6th year with them. I've only ever had one problem with them, but their policies
have since changed and I don't think that what was a problem then would be an issue now
(had to do with a questionable refund). I've done over $100k-worth of transactions with
them since I started using them (I own a recording studio, where the real high-dollar stuff
is!).
I also pay for all of my B&H orders using PayPal. In fact, UPS lost a B&H shipment recently
(surprise), but B&H didn't show much interest in refunding my money. After waiting for
my refund for over a month, I filed a claim with PayPal and got my money 4 days later.
B&H tried to do the same thing just this week on yet another lost UPS delivery (which
included a 70-200mm VR - must have been the last one!). When they didn't refund on the
date promised, I filed a complaint with PayPal and had my $1900 back within hours.

My (limited) experience is that there is no replacement for a hardware/software-based
solution as mentioned above. To answer your question, monitor calibration is not performed
in either Photoshop, Elements, or any other editing software. I am a longtime owner of the
Spyder/OptiCal system from Colorvision and just upgraded to the Spyder2 Pro Studio with
PrintFix. It's a great solution that doesn't break the bank (I got mine new on "that auction
site" for a bit over $300, and there are stripped-down versions that are less expensive).

I loaded the site on Safari, Firefox and IE. It was fine on the 27th, yesterday and today. As
far as I know, Safari is seen as Netscape, and I had no rendering issues worth mentioning in
any of the browsers. Assuming any of this helps...
-
Had to be something on Ken's end of things because the site loads fast from my home
computer and my office computers (separate ISP's and different service types - one cable and
the other DSL). It loaded fine today, just as it did on the 27th.

I buy from *bay user Film Club frequently. With the exception of one botched order (he
actually sent me a much better film than what I had ordered and let me keep it at no extra
charge), I've had no
problems. I've also bought 50-pack boxes of HP5+ from a few different users with no
problems.
-
Funny - looks just like a shot taken by Al Goulder.
-
I'm blessed with a choice of a few fine (to me) cameras to take out on any given day. I keep
NPH loaded in my Mamiya 6, Tri-X in my Holga and HP5+ in my FM3a. It seems when doing
my "eenie, meenie, miney, moe" as to which camera to take on that day, I always seem to
land on the FM3a, and a smile creeps across my face! I love that thing. But, alas, I have
never been stopped except to be asked how I get by with no LCD...
-
I made that mistake once. Everything was fine.

Jeez, aren't you guys being a little harsh? Unless I completely missed something, Paul's site
isn't selling anything. It looks informational to me, and I'd have certainly had a use for
something like that when I was searching for bags last year.
Again, maybe I missed something, but I didn't see any link for a shopping cartmor any
numbers with a dollar-sign and a button saying "buy", or "Add to cart". That's usually your
first clue.
