Very interesting series; immediately drew my eye. I initially thought this was astro-photography, but to hear it's bubbles (really?) makes it even better - original and well presented.

  1. Truly, I must disagree with Larry.

The image is charming precisely *because* it is not sharpened. It has a.. Fuji Velvia feel to it, endearing, wistful and authentic. Indeed, like any worthwhile November memory, it silences your eyes with soft sweeps of bittersweet light. A most appreciative nod to Ramon for recognising this.

As a graphical experiment, the result is decent.

In what the -pow- distinction is concerned, this is a rather ridiculous choice, which I can only interpret as a bizarre glitch in an otherwise consistent, if not elitist search&selection system.

Both the visual and narrative quality of the photo are mediocre - especially the boy's reflection is poorly rendered, leaving the viewer disappointed, as that reflection constitutes the (mental) focal point of the image as a whole.

    Disappointing.

Balanced and pastoral shot, indeed - a good opportunity, well grasped.

As for the blown highlights.. I don't think that fixing them would ruin the mood. On the contrary, your eye has a better dynamic range than the camera-sensor, so I wouldn't stick to such a conservatory approach to post-processing, especially in this case.

The image has something raw, primeval to it - like reality seen through the eyes of a sea-creature. Considering this, the perhaps sketchy quality of it doesn't bother me at all. Interesting.
  2. It's definitely an interesting and technically provoking shot. I'm not sure how well it resembles that classical velvia look you aimed for (it still seems quite 'digital', especially when viewed large), but considering it's a long exposure stitching result (I bet it was a very cold morning, too), the result is rather impressive. White balance is especially interesting and difficult to achieve (so many shades of blue, yet the railings is white).

    An altogether inspired composition.

    Lady Bug

I can't go over a lady bug shot without smiling and feeling some sort of naive joy, simply by looking at this little creature and appreciating that someone took the time to capture it on camera - I think I've made tens of comments on similar shots, but I never get tired.

A minor technical remark: the leaf seems very sharp/in-focus, while the lady bug's a little blurred. I think I'd have liked it more the other way around. Anyhow, a cute image.

E meritoriu sa ai o imagine aparte, intr-o categorie asa de populara precum spiralele arhitecturale. Imi place mult compozitia si pozitia descentrata a vitraliului. Ar merita sa o mai rafinezi un pic in PS, cu Shadows/Highlights pe zonele putin arse.

Dupa mine, cadrul asta e foarte nereusit.

This is an innovative idea, executed in a mediocre fashion. I think there are too many distractions/focal points built into the picture - firstly, why so many toys?! Also, this soft look and lack of a powerful contrast doesn't help the shot to be as striking as it should have been: it took me a few precious seconds to notice the syringe. The kid's face is also too camouflaged in the lower left corner. The woman's left foot also seems to be burned out - if this was intentional, I don't follow; if not, it needs to be corrected and the viewer's eyes need to be lured to the syringe.

Anyhow, I think you could take this and make it more powerful, if you would sit down in front of it for an extra half an hour. :)

  3. What a story/message. The abandoned tub is morbid and well exposed. Clean work on the body, too. However, I don't think the first lower half of the collage blends in (at least from a lighting point of view) with the upper half; plus, the two are not balanced enough, too many elements seem to draw, strain my eyes downwards.
