Has anyone noticed an advantage when scanning one or the other?

The T3 is a great camera and I have never realy had any issues with the lag. The ability to use filters really is nice.
If you want to be really "different" with your P&S go for the Ricoh GR21. Sure, they cost you an arm and a leg, if you can find one, but they are an incredible piece of engineering. The 21mm lens is excellent.
The Nikon 28ti, which I don't use all that often due to the size, has THE best metering of any P&S I have used and the lens is superb and tack sharp.
Enjoy the T3 if you get one, you'll love it!

I have both the 140 and 200 and the 140 is much less prone to red eye (though it is pretty weak). One creative solution... I understand the Leica SF20 flash works just fine on "auto" on a G2 and causes very little red eye. It also is fairly powerful.

David... I use the 45 Nikkor quite often on my D70 and I have had terrific results. It is a tad hard to focus as the viewfinder on the D70 is not a real strength. I use the "focus confirmation" circle in the bottom left of the viewfinder to cheat a bit :)

The pancake lenses are among my favorites. For Nikon fans the 45mm P is a modern clone of the Contax Tessar (with the neatest lens shade I have ever seen). I have both and they're terrific.
The neat thing about the Pentax is definitely the AF, very slick.

Very nicely done series Alan.

I actually have both cameras and both have terrific lenses. I must confess that the T3 gets more use based on the fact that I can use filters and because of it's superb, and small, packaging.
Both are terrific... you can't go wrong!

My M7 goes with a "never-ready" case and my M5s go bare :)

I actually had two of the early "problem" cameras and my local dealer and Leica were fantastic in taking care of it. Trevor is correct in noting that the easiest way to tell of a problem is the battery indicator issue.
In fact both of the "bad" cameras worked just fine, though they sometimes "forgot" settings after starting them back up. There was no effect on the picture quality.
For what it's worth the new one has a serial # of 2951xxx.
Enjoy your camera... they're terrific!

If it takes a few extra months to "get it right", then so be it. For an example of what can happen when you rush things.... see the full frame Contax N Digital. That disaster has basically killed their line.

The Kodak 400UC is a nice general purpose film. Low in grain and with quite a bit or
"punch", which makes it nice for those overcast days you are likely to encounter. I actually
just shot a roll here in the fog with my "new" Nikon SP and the stuff was, as usual, very
nice.
If you can stand the speed Agfa Ultra 100 makes for a nice winter film.
Enjoy your trip!

I actually live about 5 miles from the courthouse and I was tempted to run down there.
Alas, I parked it and watched on TV :)

Has anyone used the AN-1 leather Nikon strap and, if so, what is your
impression? I popped one on my newly purchased SP and I was a bit
nervous about it's toughness.
Thanks!

Trevor... Very nice! as I know that you are a CM owner I was wondering what you shot this
with?

I have an ST that I think is pretty terrific. It's build like a tank with oversized illuminated controls and a ceramic pressure plate.
Terrific camera.

As a lifelong SF Giants fan I am happy to see someone else choke for once ;-)

I attended the 201 class last February in the San Francisco Bay Area. The course was
terrific and really emphasized the importance of Color Management. I would recommend
it.

I own the CV adapters and they work great.

J...
I have one for sale here on Photo.net that is "as new". It only has seen 1 roll through it and comes with the everyready case (unused) and all boxes and manuals. The link to the ad is here:

Take care,

Trevor... E100GX is a terrific fim as well. Exceptionally low grain along with a warmer color palette than E100G. Both are excellent for scanning as well.

Keeble is quite a good store. They have Leica and Contax gear in the rangefinder category. I believe they have the Hasselblad X-Pan II as well.
-
Marke is right... it all depends on what you need. I have the 28-45-90 combo and am very pleased. The 28 in particular is really razor sharp and compact. I can attest that it's one terrific lens.

Thanks for finding the pictures... terrific! Is it me or does the new ZI look slightly "large",
about the size of my M5?
Contax RX vs. RX II shutter differences?

Rusty... I have heard the same thing. Supposedly the RX II does not have the same "snik" of a shutter sound as the RX. I hope someone who has actually experienced both can give us a first hand account.
Happy New Year all!
