I used Agfa Scala and the light bounced from a white painted wall to
fill the shadows. Her eyes are amazing.

I was lucky to get this close with a tripod and a 100mm macro lens
without spooking it. No flash used or available.

I was taken with the way the butterfly looked like it might just have
emerged from the twisted leaf on which it is perched.
-
This orange flame butterfly was sitting on some contrasting greenery
which emphasised the colours. No flash was used but it's good and
sharp. Your comments gratefully received.

Hi Christian.
You are quite right that the colours aren't neutal grey(sky) I honestly can't remember if it was as yellow as this in real life though I do remember the golden light. However I have the benefit of viewing my Velvia slide immediately after the scan and I try as best as possible to match the transparency for colour, hue and saturation. My original download is actually remarkably close to the tranny.
I appreciate the effort you went too.Thanks.
Ian Cameron.

Beautiful lighting and the old bench adds greatly to the composition. I'm glad no one's sitting on it though because this would have overpowered the marvelous backdrop.
-
I was fortunate to find a tree that echoed the arc of this vivid
rainbow so I placed it next to it and let the tree slide out of the
frame. Good compositon or a visual annoyance. What do you think.

I was astonished at the colour and intensity that the backlit mist
rising from the river Spey was illuminated. Please feel free to
comment.

Thankyou for your comments. I can only reiterate that this is scanned from a velvia tranny using an Epson 3200 flat bed. The sharpenng is just the same as I apply to any of my pictures. Is it really too sharp?
-
The colours match my Velvia original as closely as I can make it. I
think the play of light and shade on the background hill is what
makes the image. However I appreciate your views.

I love it. I couldn't tell if the colours are understated but I know a fine composition when I see one. I am sure you were completely unable to avoid it but the central bush just disturbs the silky flow of the falls a little.
-
I was stuck by the contrasting colours but it's a pity the lighting
wasn't more spectacular on the day I visited. Please append your
opinions.

I am still undecided whether this is better in a letter box format
with a chunk of brightly coloured grasses cut off so as not to over
power the mountain range, or whether the foreground grasses add
essential texture. Your views appreciated.

I disagree with the first post. I find the post processing soothingly attractive almost tangible, strokable, like the fur of the cat. I wish you had got more of his left ear in though I keep wanting to tuck it back inside the frame. Otherways purrrfect.

A dusting of snow and the flickering embers of last light caused me
to take this photo. I hope you think it was worth freezing various
appendages of my anatomy for.

You will have to take my word for it. The angle of view precludes much more of the land being seen. However it was the big sky I liked.
-
Big landscapes are not so easy to find in Britain as they are in the
USA. I was delighted by the colours and the towering sky. The group
of trees and the white flecks of the sheep (take my word for it) lend
it scale. Hope you like it, but feel free to give constructive
criticism.

I was lucky that the dramatic lighting coincided with the heather in
full bloom. Hope you enjoy it. Please feel free to comment.

I have always been drawn to the sinewy twist in this harbour wall.
Here it was photographed at low tide. Feel free to comment.
-
A sweep of virgin snow leading to the pines and the mountainous
backdrop. I felt exhilarated. Hope you like it.

Peak fall colour in Britain is rarely as glamourous as New England,
never-the-less I was delighted with the results. What do you think.

A transient moment of magical light. I was dead chuffed! What do
you think?
