It was this afternoon taking pictures of the birds that drove home to me how tricky it is to get exposure right on the 10D. Now I underexpose by about 1/2 a stop as standard, shoot RAW and work in C1 to fine tune.

Alberto - thanks for your thoughts. The original background was a very dull, plain white wall which came out as various shades of muddy gray. Not pretty!

My first thought was - what the hell is that? I'm assuming it's a dog but can't help thinking it would be stronger if we could see the face or eyes! Otherwise the composition, colour and mix of textures are great.
