  1. I have a Tokina 19-35 AF (a killer lens), Nikon 70-300AF-D ED. For a walk-around I use a Tamron 28-300. After reading Ken Rockwell's article on using film and scanning I decided to try it. I dusted off my 'old' Olympus 35 2.8 Point -n-shoot and shot a roll of Walgreen 400 ISO color neg film and had it developed and scanned to a disk at Costco. I was stunned by the 11X17 inkjet from my Epson 1400. The print was sharp with great color saturation. Grain disappeared with the unsharp mask. It's every bit as good as my 14mp Kodak. Now I have a full frame point and shoot. I'm looking forward to purchasing a couple of Ais Nikkors to use on my 8008s. BTW, Thanks to all that replied.

  2. Has anyone here used their Nikon 105 2.8D AF Micro with a Kenko 2x teleconverter. If so, comments on the

results would be appreciated. I expect some loss of image quality, but if it is not too bad I would rather use that

combi in a pinch rather than carry an extra lens. I'm hooked on the 105 results.

  3. I forgot to mention that Steve Serota is alive and well and is still offering repair services from his home. Steve had a shop on 9th and Arch Sts. in Philadelphia for years. He was always great to deal with and was very reasonably priced. Unfortunately Steve does not provide rechipping. He can be contacted at info@camera-care.com

  4. I just returned my new Oly 570uz to B&H. After much testing it was just too high in the

noise area. I could not reduce the noise even at ISO 64 and 100 without destroying the

sharpness. It also is excruciatingly slow. It has a ton of features, but it lacked image

quality. I'll have to stick with my trusty Kodak P880.

  5. After shooting with the 24-120vr I found it to be a far better lens than some

reviewers have. It is very sharp and the color is great. Distortion was a lot

lower than I expected and is very correctable. Do most owners of this lens

agree with me? I use it on my Kosak DCS 14n and the results are just as good as

a prime lens. Also I would like some users to voice their opion of the 70-300vr.

  6. Would I be making a mistake if I buy a D1x body as a back-up? Is there a

better choice. I can buy a mint copy for around $500. Is that too much if so

where can I get one for less money. How many actuations is too many for this

    camera?

  7. Thanks Mike and Kent for the info. I currently use a Kodak DCS 14n full frame and intend to use the F100 as a back-up. I'm spoiled by the full frame and VR/Afs.

  8. Can the peeling rubber cover on the body of my D1x be repaired? Can the

brassing be repaired? If so does anyone know where it can be sent for this work

to be done along with a CLA.

  9. If you own a 28 2.8 Ais, or know someone who does, go to a camera shop and mount it on the new D300 and shoot some shots with it and I will guarantee you the results are mind-blowing. I just used mine on my newly aquired Kodak DCS 14/n full frame 14MP and it is a superb combo. Virtually no distortion or flaring.
