Wow... heavy rain in the White Mts? That's one of the driest places on earth. You won't see this again for a while!

Sorry, but a moon that large is not believable. Particularly a half moon. The only time you'll see the moon "appear" very large on the horizon is on a full moon. Google "moon illusion." -

Yes, that's where it was. Trust me, don't pack your bags... there's nothing going on there yet! I had to struggle to find one that was turning. I would give it several weeks.
Hmmm... largest in California? I thought it was a tiny little grove. To make sure we're talking about the same one. It was near the turnoff to Hart Bar Campground, then about 3 miles or so on dirt roads to the trailhead. And, calling them "roads" is a being polite.
