I never told you thank you for your reply and I would like to do it now, despite 14 years later. I completely agree with you, being exploration geologist for almost 30 years I have to say I hate a gold and everything related to this metal. I try to focus on "useful" industrial metals like zinc, copper, lead, tin and even silver. Metals that make a sense and being of tremendous use for human kind while gold only brought a greed, wars, suffering and humiliation. Perfectly stored in the ground we do everything possible to get it out, melt it into gold bricks with incredibly high human, political, environmental and ethical price in order to store it again in safe strong rooms in banks or national vaults. Thousand s tons of useless metal, all that likely 5,000 years of incredible superhuman effort, misery and humiliation of the essence of the humanity in order to fill in two Olympic size pools with metal nobody really needs.

Beautiful composition.

This one was a challenge. Open shutter for 15 minutes, each statue illuminated by a spot light (simple electric torch) for some 20 seconds depending on size. The last one was at quite a distance from my camera I didn't realized that so I had to run back in order to finish the exposure. Lot of fun doing this set of images, spent there all night alone so after all I could catch the first light as well. Surreal place indeed, love it.

This is a long exposure shot about 10 minutes. Each statue was lighted individually with a simple electric torch / spotlight for about 30 seconds. Star trails are corresponding to 10 min Earth rotation.

Not commenting on photo Franz, it is a good journalistic kind of shot capturing a quite a rare moment indeed. Well done. Nothing personal please but what I really dislike is the use of those noble gorgeous animals for such a ridiculous and pathetic "shows" . Not many people know how much struggle and cruel torture is hidden behind so called "training" these animals have to overcome since very young age to perform completely unnaturally like this elephant had to do . There is nothing brave in trainer behavior as somebody mentioned, these animals are scared to death to do something else they were asked and cruelly trained to do, they know very well a brutal punishment will come after if.... Use of wild animals in this kind of shows has to be banned worldwide. Period.

Thank you Jack. This is the very first digital image I ever posted in 15y I'm member of Photonet and I'm very impressed what a small camera like my EOS 6M can do! I think you are right, this guy was maybe not honest but genuine, really genuine.

Excellent and precise use of panning, composition maybe a little bit too much shifted to the center but still stunning image. 

Simple but beautiful composition. Tonal simplicity of this image is contributing to overall "minimalist" feeling, you look at it and you don't need actually to see more. Relaxing and still attracting viewers' interest. Very nice work, I like it a lot.  

Wow! haven't seen this one yet! Absolutely gorgeous composition, square framing is the must on this image and all about this image is just outstanding my friend. I love this image, it si probably one of the best square compositions and subject selection I seen! Really fine fine work! What a beauty, I'm surprised nobody realized how fine this image is in all aspects.

Very nice work with the light Peter. Very long exposure judging according star trails and still well managed foreground illumination on man-made object. I have that feeling like I'm walking along that trail as I used when I was a kid. Krasne!

Makes me recall early autumn or rather late summer in Europe, low that time. Very well composed, colors are just amazing however, I was wondering how this scene would look like in B&W (on film of course) but probably too much contrast for B&W, not sure. On some cloudy day this would be almost kind of John Sexton scene.
