The colors and composition are wonderful. Should have take nmultiple exposures though. The lack of focus in the face and the motion blur in the curtain detracts when you get up close. In the thumbnail, I thought 7/7 all the way.

Excellent composition.

Great idea! Interesting contrasting textures. Got a lot of this on the walls around where I live too.

Interesting! I've never seen anything like this before. Two superimposed filters, a transparent surface (grating) and a reflective surface. Some people are probably going to fault you for your straight on symmetrical composition though.

Wonderful found composition! Your efforts to find beauty in strange places are inspiring.

Beautiful lighting and texture!

Fantastic. That's sure getting in close! To the point recognition begins to fade.

Stunning colors and composition. Really stands out from far away , but still has texture when you get up close. Excellent!
Maybe they gave you low ratings because you cut the yellow towels off midway. I like the way you've dared to crop like this.

Your closeups are the best I've seen at Photo.Net and a stunning example of what someone can achieve with digital (and for most of them I assume flash). Sometimes I wish you'd just use a normal face though. Massive wrinkles, blindness, sometimes I think you're just exploiting these faces for prima-donna viruouso photo effects. I'd be even more impressed if you could find beauty in a normal face sometimes.

Beautiful geometry and shades of white. Wish the scan was higher resolution so the tonal gradations and texture were more visible.

This composition really stands out from the rest for its beauty. Definitely 7/7 for me. I only wish the pavement next to the pool was brighter so I could get more texture out of it.
Thanks for verbalizing some of your thoughts about the photo also. My best photos also seem to come from fleeting moments when I see some beauty in something not very obvious.

Beautiful composition and color.

Great job at editing the photos going into the folder. They are all excellent and consistently black and white. Great!

The composition, the worn steps, the diagonals, the shadows, the yellow paint all make me keep coming back to look. I'm not quite sure why it works for me. Several elements are positioned about one third into the photo.

Really like this one. IMHO the lens flare and blur just makes it more human.

This is a law of large numbers photo. Around sunset with diffuse light
just kept snapping away at f2.8 ASA400 at different shutter speeds at
this same scene until I got a bite. Maybe I could have got a tastier fish
but I put my pole away after this one and ate dinner. At what point do
you stop trying to get something out of a subject? Any comments
welcome.

Squeezed lemon

Thanks for the tips.
I finally bought a real camera,a Nikon FM2.I was amazed by the sharpnessof the images coming out of its fast 50mm lenscompared to digital. The sleepy little provincialtown I live in (Chiangrai, Thailand) is having a photography workshop sponsored by Alliance Francais and taught by Nicolas Pascarel, who's done interesting color slide work in Cuba and Cambodia, so I'll probably be able to follow through on your suggestionsand reshoot my beloved lemon.
