  1. Mark, I had to look up this song as I could not remember it and I'm an AP fan also. I'm listening to it now as I view the image and it all came back.

The side light is really good on this and the choice of the FG trees is real good with enough of a glimpse of the lake. Good choice to make this b/w.

  2. Zion Canyon with bridge over the Virgin River.

Right after shooting this and packing up a big stag strolled out into the water just under the bridge. I did not have a long enough tele with me anyway.

    "Morning Blend"

    Hi Mark,

Yeah, that's a tricky one. Lots of elements above the horizon line which makes things difficult. I think you did really good though. I might add a "linear contrast" curve adj. and maybe do a real soft oval selection of the whole area of the distant shoreline and hills in the center image and bump contrast just slightly.

Yes, I'm not too much of an HDR fan either unless it's done really good and I totally suck at it.

  3. Thank you for viewing.

This is a classic view of the "Subway" at Zion national park in Utah.

Quite a hike to get here but worth every step. I'm standing in the middle

of the waterflow on the slick-rock and it was EXTREMELY slippery. A

photog to my left slipped and slid with is camera/tripod all the way down

to where it is dry. His camera still worked even though I heard it hit the

    rock floor.

    Mind Bending

A vertical version to my prior landscape shot.

This place sure bends my mind each time I've been here. I used the Sigma 12-24mm and I'm right at the ledge with the lens peering over the edge. The lens is so wide it makes the con-caved drop-off look sloped. I was too chicken to actually look over.

  4. The Virgin River at Zion National Park with the Watchman Mountain in distance.

I was the first person to set up here for the sunset shot. I was shortly joined by a very nice gal photog and we debated whether the sky would turn red or not (both of us hoping so).

By the time things started looking real good we had a crowd of about 50 people around with various types of cameras waiting also. By the time the light was at it's optimum, everyone had given up and left except us two.

    It pays to wait.

  5. I was able to get a last minute spot on one of Carol Bigthumb's "photo tours". It was just me and another couple. The "photo tour" guides have the power to stop the other tour groups and keep them out of your way as you take your shots. They also get you to all the light beams and the right time. Well worth the extra money.

    The Grand View

    Thanks Chris.

This is shot with the Canon 5DII and Sigma 12-24. I brought the E3 along as a dual system for those moments where there is great stuff happening in two directions at the same time.
