1.
Go for it with a 4x5. I took this when he was 4 days old.

 2.
I have done a few with both 4x5 and 8x10. It's not impossible.

 4.
I looked at the original color version and the house is not an intense yellow, more of a pale yellow on my display. The blues and greens are fairly saturated though. Your color shots look well balanced for color, so it seems like your monitor is okay.

 5.
Desaturation is different from grayscale. If you desaturate it's still in sRGB or RGB color space. This is okay when you want to add a warm or cool tone to a monochrome image.
Grayscale changes it to the Gray color space which has no colors.

 7.
Rangefinders don't have a focus screen like reflex cameras. Your rangefinder optics may have haze and dust that reduces the contrast and ability to see clearly. This happens with old RF cameras. The GW690 III is at least 20 years old. Rangefinder mechanisms also need occasional adjusting, which could be why some of your pictures are not sharp.

 8.

with pentax only window light (slow sinc speeds)
and the focusing glass is super dark...

Check the tab on the side of the lens to make sure the aperture is wide open for focusing. The viewfinder will be dark if it's in stopped down M mode or preview mode.

 9.
Get the 80mm Planar, or another Zeiss focal length. Use it for several months, examine lots of your photos with it, and you might learn how special it is. You won't see other lenses the same way again. Non-Hasselblad lenses most likely can't do that, so don't bother with them.

 10.
It refers to having a Copal 3S shutter common to that period, as opposed to the newer Copal 3 shutters. I have an older 450mm lens with a Copal 3S shutter and it takes a slightly different size hole for mounting.
http://www.skgrimes.com/products/new-copal-shutters/standardcopals

 11.
My most recent outing was with a large format camera as old as I am. Here's one I did for fun, and for the kids' dad.

 12.
A 14 inch Kodak Commercial Ektar.

 13.
Here is a short video of the gears turning. <a href="
 14.
Thanks for all the nice comments folks. The machine was utterly fascinating when I rotated the rear pulley wheel and watched the gears move as well as the three drums at the business end. It made a wonderful cacophony of mechanical noise. The railroad stakes for gear shaft keys were absolutely heavy duty. I'd like to be there when the forge is in operation. Jeff, I have been to Morristown to visit a friend a few times and didn't know about Jockey Hollow. Thanks for the info.

 15.
It's not worth it to not get one. I have no regrets buying my Hasselblad over 7 years ago.

 16.
Does anyone know what this machine does? It all spins and rotates. I spun the pulley wheel in the left rear and all the gears rotated in glorious unison.

 18.
A week ago today I took the Kodak Medalist out to a local park with a recreated pioneer farm. My trusty tripod was conscripted for the excursion, and roll of Kodak T-Max 400 was loaded in the camera. The light meter app on my phone did the light measurement duties.

 19.
Near Houston Texas one week ago today. Kodak Medalist, T-Max 400 film.

 20.
The film isn't the only thing that's exposed in there.

 21.
I like TLR's and have used a few including a Mamiya. The Flickr link has nice shots. It's a subtle effect but significant, notice that the lower shooting position due to looking down into the finder has a lot to do with the charm of the photos. Shooting from eye level would not have that visual perspective. This is one big reason I love the waist level viewing in TLR's.
