Late to the party but, the bottom line is that there is only ONE black and white emulsion left in 220, Tri-X. Please tell me I'm wrong and lead me to it!
-
Forgot to say that the vast majority of my scans will be of 6x6 B&W negatives.
-
OK, I know "best" is vague. I need a good yet inexpensive scanner. I'll be
scanning 6x6 and maybe 6x9 black and white negs and color transparencies.
Probably will print up to 24x24" but would like the option to go larger. I don't
mind a reburb. I've been using a refurbed Epson 3170 for over a year now and
need to upgrade before they stop making medium format scanners.
I'm hoping to stay under $250-$300. Am I crazy?
Any suggestions?

I rented a 40D to back up my 20D on an assignment. I was going to use the 40D for the job
but I was getting what looked like jagged edges on the LCD display. I'm sure this must be
some issue with the new large LCD magnification but it looked like hell and scared me back
to the 20D for the shoot.
When's the 50D coming out?!

Do any of you know what the lens hood size is for an Ikoflex 1A? I'm also wondering where I might find
one. Just looking for something that works not a collectable.
Thanks for any help.
-
That's a good point. But are there sizes big enough to fold an 11.5x14.5" envelope? Does it come in rolls?
-
Inkjet printers will print on envelopes. Not a problem.
What I'm seeking are envelopes made with a higher quality paper that will reproduce close to "photo quality" images.
Anyone?
-
I am looking for large (10x13 or 11.5x14.5) envelopes made of decent quality
paper that will give me photo quality images. Is there such a thing, and where
can I buy them?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Dan, thanks so much for all your help. Whew!
Got it. It was a bit of a bitch but I suppose it HAD to be installed in the verticle bay beside
the master HD. Hard to get out but not so much after one discovers there's a screw
holding it in, unlike the horizontal bay. My one faux pax was that this screw fell down into
the drive bay and disapeered. Hope this won't kill me later.
I was able to initialize and partition the drive. It says it has 298GB (it's a 325GB drive) so I
guess I need that card?
I take no joy in these mechanical challenges.
Thanks so very much for your help guys!

OK, I am a total newbie at this. I checked the IDE cable, recomnnected it. Still the same result.
Just in case, I am assuming that the other end of the IDE cable is plugged in wherever it's
supposed to be. Are the factory installed on one end?
The slot by the main drive is verticle and I can't seem to find a way to unhinge it to try
installing the new drive there (with the other IDE cable).

Maybe this is the problem: Western Digital says " To instal a drive greater than 137GB, you
must install a Ultra ATA/100 controller card. "
Does that sound right? If so where's the best/cheapest place to buy one?
-
Just checked and the disc is spinning.
I did not intsall it beside the master drive. I installed it in the bottom of two empty spots
under the CD drive. It's plugged into the P4 power cord.
Disc Utilities still doesn't see it and there's no icon on my desktop.
Help!
-
So Disk Utility doesn't "see" it, so maybe I need to make it a slave?
UPDATE: just did that and DU still can't see it. The default setting was "Cable Select" and it
didn't see that either.
?
I'm stuck.
-
OK, I found the power cord inside, plugged her in, rebooted and I don't see the drive. Where
should it be?
-
This is my first time installing an internal drive.
I am intalling a Western Digital 320 GB "WD Caviar SE EIDE" hard drive into a Mac G4 silver door.
I have the drive in and connected via the 40-pin 80 conductor cable but didn't find a power supply cable.
Should that be inside the Mac (like the 40-pin cable)?
Also will I need a Ultra ATA/100 controller card (like the WD instructions say)?
Any insights on how to get this thing up and running will be GREATLY appreciated!

Many moons later I'm finally down to buying one. Will this one work?
Link, just in case:

Any better suggestions? I like the 320GB size!

I just ran some of the "new" APX 400 (120) rated at 200 in Xtol 1:1 and went 12 minutes at
68?F. Looked great.

I am a pro and I've used White Lightning Ultra 1800's for over 16 years. They travel well,
great reliable strobes. As to modeling lights, they use standard light bulbs. I use 200W and
that's plenty bright. They're real work horses and Paul C. Buff has superb customer service.

I'm looking for a good 20mm (or 24mm) to say 50mm or 60mm EOS zoom for a Canon 20D. I'm hoping to
find a good one for around $300. Suggestions anyone? Am I in dreamland again? Doesn't have to be super
fast just want to have no CA and good sharpness.
If you know of such a lens please let me know where you bought it and price payed. Thanks in advance.

Oops! I'll move this to the Canon EOS forum. Sorry!

I'd buy a book of Gene's work in a heartbeat. Love it!

"If you do verticals, the Gowlandflex needs to be turned on its side."
If this is true then that's a total deal killer. Why would a guy who shoots for magazines create a horizontally oriented body?
-
PS: the other thing that it does is repeatedly apply the action to the same file over and over.
Help a brother out!
