  1. <p>A few from a Canon IIS rangefinder.<br> Arista 100, Xtol 1:1</p><div></div>
  2. In your results, the sonar looks darker than the one from the helios. Do you know if there was a difference in light or exposure? One thing I noticed about my sonar is that the coatings are noticeably better. At least when looking Y the front of the lens, I can see less of a reflection. Where the helios had considerably more reflection. But whether or not this actually makes a difference in the final image. That is hard to tell.
  3. <p>Doug: Really love that Ford shot!<br> Donald: Thats an Olympus 35SP of course!</p>
  4. The Retina iia, Vitessa, and Contessa are my recommendations. The xenon's and Ultron s are top of their class. The skopar and tessar are excellent as well. I have these and they are great to use. I've never owned a weltini or Vito iii. -always wanted one of those. Also consider the Agfa Karat iv. It collapses instead folds. But it has a nice bright viewfinder, excellent optics and ergonomics.
  5. <p>Rick, nice find on the medalist. I've only rarely had the desire for one. But ive heard good things about the Ektar on it. A 5 element design.. a true heliar?</p>
  6. <p>John, in large format that effect is common with vintage lenses. Often called 'swirly bokeh'.<br> personally I don't really like these examples. The main subject is not really sharp in many of them. And I really would have liked to have seen the background in most of them.</p>
  7. <p>Nothing spectacular. This was just a test roll.</p><div></div>
  8. <p>Its been a while since i've been active here. I've been working with 4x5.. actually taking a large format class. But thats over and done with. Now I have a backlog of classics to try out!<br> Here are a few from a Canon II rangefinder and a Canon 28mm f2.8 ltm</p> <div></div>
  9. <p>"Is the lens scratched in any way? Are there spots on (or in) the lens element(s)? Is there fungus in the lens?"<br> that is another very real possibility. The nettar focusses by turning the front element of the lens. So any abnormality would not be consistently in the same spot.</p> <p> </p>
  10. I'm not sure how that matters at all. More elements does not make a better lens.
  11. <p>Will there be any new classics? i cannot see a inkjet print ever being valuable.</p>
  12. <p>May I make an alternative suggestion: The Nikkor 105mm f2.5 is pretty awesome. </p>
  13. Of I won big, I doubt I would buy a museums worth of gear. Instead I would just get the best light weight kit available.. say a Sony a7r2 with Zeiss lenses. Then spend the rest of my days traveling with the digital kit an my 4x5 kit. Also, would really like to buy the parents for Polaroid film and release them to public domain.
  14. <p>Ah good another large format shooter! The A6000 makes a great companion camera for LF. I have a Fuji XE1 which is very similar spec'd. A friend of mine has the A6000 (and his wife has one too).<br> Its not worth he extra money for the A6300. With the A6000, you can get a kit with the extra zoom lens for $850, then add on the 10-18 for another 800 or so and be set.<br> Get an adapter for whatever 50mm manual focus prime you already have and you are set.<br> The cameras have some nice options for B&W visualization, such as red channel black and white which simulates having a red filter.</p> <p> </p><div></div>
  15. Congrats! That's on my list but unless I find a great deal like you, I don't expect to ever get one. What a great camera and story to go with it! I've had a couple of nice finds myself. Most of which I've resold. But I'm kinda kicking my self now because it's so much more fun telling the story of how you scored a great deal, than saying "bought it on the internet".
  16. <p>finally #3 this was from the 8.5cm f2 Nikkor, as was the first backlit photo.</p><div></div>
  17. <p>A couple more from my Nikon S2. And another roll from an expired bulk loader with unidentified film. I really need to get some fresh film to see what this system is capable of.</p><div></div>
  18. <p>Try:<br> http://blog.klassik-kameras.com/?cat=5</p>
  19. <p>Oh Nikkor 50mm f1.4 S.C. Mystery film, Rodinal 1:50 15 min.</p> <p>Also thanks to the Massive Dev App.. well worth the money for the tool.</p>
  20. <p>Really nice variety of work so far this weekend. Good job guys!</p> <p>Here is my contribution. This if from a Nikon S2. I've had to do some minor work on it. There was a pinhole on the shutter I covered. So this was the first short-roll test on this camera, with only about 16 frames loaded. I have a mystery bulk-roll that I have no idea what film is in it. Ive tried it a few times, with poor results. this time was much better, i extended the development time and I think I got it right. Its slightly fogged, but I was quite pleased with the results this go around.<br> <br />No light leaks from the shutter, focus looks good and and the speeds seem correct. So now I am ready for a full fresh roll. </p> <div></div>
  21. <p>reading these always brings up questions.. like why the dual branding of honeywell-heiland pentax? I dont see asahi mentioned in the ad anywhere. Was this a marketing trick to get people to think the camera was german?</p> <p>-And why was MP so evasive in their QA section.. they really did not answer half the questions.. </p>
