Very fun band (Street Dogs) to photograph, energetic and emotional.
I purposely left some empty space on the left to hopefully
exaggerate what he could be pointing to. Its slighty cropped, but
otherwise fairly unaltered, any suggestions/comments?

Critique please!

Yep, its quite Shire-like.
Well done, well done.
I could spend days there photographing I think, beautiful.

Go Jimmy Go, ska/rocksteady/reggae band from Hawaii.
I love the lighting and crispness I got in this shot.

Let's hear it...

Updated photo by desaturating yellow line in the background.
-
Does it capture the moment?
-
Youre right Simon, it does look flat now that I look at it again. Im going to upload a better edited one...

Who's hair do you like better? :)

Need more contrast, saturation and warmer color balance. Looks very washed out, im guessing you scanned this/got a photocd and didnt post-process it.
I hope that you dont mind that I played with it in photoshop...

Ohh Pat Smear, LA punk legend right there. Just funny how you can go from being in The Germs to Nirvana and The Foo Fighters.
Anyways, I like the picture, even though his shirt fades into the black blackground, it gives it a unique look. Not too bad.

"Thoughtful and constructive criticism from members with posted & rated photos is very much appreciated."
Wish you could do the same for me, instead of rating my photo 3/3 and not bothering to say a word.
Also, there is a restricted size for uploading photos, you need to resize your photos to a much smaller size.

Yes, this was at the glass house, for facedown fest.

Passion in his expression, and the cool light trail from his head.

Great band.
Great photo.
The sharp face definately makes the photo work, great capture!

Thom - Thanks!
James - Thank you very much. I usually shoot with flash, though I try to depend on it as little as possible. I try to suck out all the ambient light I can and use flash to fill in the foreground, though I do occasionaly rely on the flash if I want to totally freeze motion. This shot was around 1/60th at I think 2.8 and with flash obviously. My others with more light trails are usually shot with a shutter speed around 1/2 (with flash). The results can be very exciting, experimenting is very fun.
Arjen - Much appreciation for your comments! I was kind of stuck with flash on this shot because I only had my digital camera. I can sometimes get away without flash with my slr and 50mm 1.8, depending on the concert venue lighting. I find I usually get more appealing images with slow-sync flash, in my opinion though. :)

Tony, what shareware did you use to fix the grain on the photo?
Anyways, definately a great moment captured here.

I feel the subjects are too centered, I wouldve moved the frame more to the right. And I think a more shallow depth of field would've worked better.
-
Yeah, I think it may have gotten too much of a reading from the dark background because some of the highlights seem blown out. Which hurts the focusing on the nec of the guitar, the hands and the face(but the shallow depth of field also comes into play). It could also be because the shutter was really slow for being handheld, which seemed to intensify the lights
Other than those minor details its a great photo! The composition is awesome and so its the captured moment. Great work!

Thoughts...reactions?
Hope you find it as enjoyable as I do.

Nothing really stands out. Flat and dark tone/colors. Cant see his hands and his eyes are closed. Im just not feeling it, sorry.
Decapitated

What I picture is the streaks of red light as blood rushing down
from the recently decapitated head, which is falling to the ground,
of this singer. Also, if you have a keen eye, you may notice his
shirt (ironically) says "Facedown".
