  1. The Chinese rarely miss an opportunity to take pictures of friends and

family in historic locations or with images of famous people,

especially Mao. This couple gets an opportunity to get three at once

    on Waifujing Street in Beijing.

2 1/2 year old immature bald eagle finally takes flight at Nisqually

National Wildlife Refuge near Olympia, WA. I watched her for 1.5 hours.

Kazakh herdsmen tend their flock last October when it was about -4

    centigrade. Today, about -36 centigrade.

Great shot, almost monochromatic but that makes it work so well. I have long admired your ability to get those quirky human expressions. You must really enjoy what you do.

    Grandchildren

          2

Altai Mountains, Western Mongolia, these Kazakh children were very

happy, helpful, and friendly. Though we didn't speak a common

language we were able to communicate. The seem to know their place in

the family and help out without being asked, including the younger

    one. 17-24 mm, iso 320

    The Grandson

Western Mongolia, very close to Siberia, China, Kazakhstan. This 7

year old Kazakh lives with a family who raises Cashmere goats, sheep,

camels, horses, and moves 4-5 times per year in search of the best

pastures for the animals. 96% of Mongolians can read and write!

Despite being very poor, no complaints here.

    The Fox Awaits Us

Kazakh eagle hunter in the Altai Mountains of Mongolia. I was very

fortunate to spend 5 days with Sialo and his family, hunting fox, and

observing their daily routines. 17-24mm at 17 mm, iso 200. no flash
