  1. Good afternoon. all. I have a roll I shot as a test for an older camera. My go to film developer for BW is Ilford Ilfotech DDX. I can't find development times for this particular and developer combo. The Massive Development Chart lists 200 and 400 ISO but not 100.  It is just a test roll so it's not critical. I can't see myself buying and mixing a different developer for a single 35mm roll. My thought is to go with the 200 development time, which is 6 minutes at 1+4. Any thoughts? Has anyone out here tried this combination?

    Thanks!

  2. Good afternoon, all. I recently acquired the above enlarger head, and it seems to work fine. There are two cables coming out of the top of it. One goes to the timer but I'm lost as to what the other one is for. It's much shorter. The negative density is not radically different from side to side but the image falls on one side and requires a significant burn in to even it out. The head appears evenly lit, and the enlarger carriage is level. I've been using it without plugging that second cord. Any ideas what that other plug is for or if what the fall off on one side is related to that plug not being connected? I hope this isn't a foolish question........

    Thanks!!

  3. Good morning. You can get all the developing info you need from the Massive Development Chart. www.digitaltruth.com  and just click on the Massive Development chart link. You can find almost any combination of black and white film and developers you can imagine. I prefer Ilford Ilfotec DDX these days. You can mix at room temperature instead of the 122 degrees D-76 requires. Just mix what you need and throw it away once you use it. B&H has plenty of Ilford chemicals. Both DDX and Ilfosol can be shipped. I'm having some delivered today.

  4. Good evening. I'm about to start a project printing Ilford FB either 11x14 or 9.5x12 (haven't decided yet). Does anyone have thoughts on the results using either of these two developers? Preference? How many prints can safely be developed in Dektol mixed at 1+2 or Multigrade mixed 1+9?

    Thank you!

  5. Good morning from North Carolina. I'm considering purchasing a new Intrepid 4x5 camera and am wondering if anyone out here uses one. Anyone have any thoughts on quality of the basic camera and if Toyo lens boards might be usable on them? I'd appreciate any input. I'm currently using a Toyo 45CF.

    Thanks!

  6. Good afternoon, all. I'm running into some issues and would like some opinions. Attached is an image I shot at Fort Fisher in Wilmington, NC on  bright sunny day. The camera is a Toyo 45CF, 210 MM lens. I developed the negative in a Yankee Tank loaded with 7 sheets. I used Ilfotec DDX for 7 minutes. Several of the sheets showed this same problem, though of varying degrees. This one was the worst. The camera has a new bellows and no apparent light leaks. It looks like uneven development but I'm not sure. That particular tank cannot be inverted so agitation is a side to side sloshing action. My agitation was 5 seconds every 30 seconds. I'd appreciate any thoughts. I just purchased a Stearman SP-445 but haven't used it yet. This is a straight scan of the negative.

  8. Good morning! I have an older Beseler Dichro 45 computerized color head. It seems to be working fine but the digital readout for each color does not work quite as well as I think it should. I've never used one of these before. When I turn the dials the color of the light changes but since the accurate readout is probably not correct, I think I can't be certain of the actual color of the light. I do not do color printing, only black and white. Does anyone have any ideas on testing the actual color of the light? I have them all visually zeroed out, as now the light is white. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I've never used a diffuser head like this before.

    Thanks!!!
