  1. Good afternoon, all. I recently acquired the above enlarger head, and it seems to work fine. There are two cables coming out of the top of it. One goes to the timer but I'm lost as to what the other one is for. It's much shorter. The negative density is not radically different from side to side but the image falls on one side and requires a significant burn in to even it out. The head appears evenly lit, and the enlarger carriage is level. I've been using it without plugging that second cord. Any ideas what that other plug is for or if what the fall off on one side is related to that plug not being connected? I hope this isn't a foolish question........ Thanks!! Tom
  2. Thanks, Robert. I've tried everywhere I could think of. No one has this any more. They are all listing it as either out of stock or no longer available. I'll keep trying.
  3. Good afternoon. What is everyone using for spot tone these days. I tried finding some with no joy. Thanks!!!
  4. Good morning. You can get all the developing info you need from the Massive Development Chart. www.digitaltruth.com and just click on the Massive Development chart link. You can find almost any combination of black and white film and developers you can imagine. I prefer Ilford Ilfotec DDX these days. You can mix at room temperature instead of the 122 degrees D-76 requires. Just mix what you need and throw it away once you use it. B&H has plenty of Ilford chemicals. Both DDX and Ilfosol can be shipped. I'm having some delivered today.
  5. Thank you all for the responses. Multigrade wins on convenience alone.
  6. Thanks for all the responses. KMac is right. I only have the photos. My friend sis open in and it is in a Kodak Pocket Model B Tom
  7. A friend sent these photos. Can anyone identify this film holder and maybe tell me what sort of camera is associated with it. Thanks! Tom-san
  8. A friend sent these photos of this film holder. Can anyone identify the camera this was associated with? Thanaks! Tom-san
  9. Good evening. I'm about to start a project printing Ilford FB either 11x14 or 9.5x12 (haven't decided yet). Does anyone have thoughts on the results using either of these two developers? Preference? How many prints can safely be developed in Dektol mixed at 1+2 or Multigrade mixed 1+9? Thank you! Tom-san
  10. Good morning from North Carolina. I'm considering purchasing a new Intrepid 4x5 camera and am wondering if anyone out here uses one. Anyone have any thoughts on quality of the basic camera and if Toyo lens boards might be usable on them? I'd appreciate any input. I'm currently using a Toyo 45CF. Thanks!
  11. Good afternoon, all. I'm running into some issues and would like some opinions. Attached is an image I shot at Fort Fisher in Wilmington, NC on bright sunny day. The camera is a Toyo 45CF, 210 MM lens. I developed the negative in a Yankee Tank loaded with 7 sheets. I used Ilfotec DDX for 7 minutes. Several of the sheets showed this same problem, though of varying degrees. This one was the worst. The camera has a new bellows and no apparent light leaks. It looks like uneven development but I'm not sure. That particular tank cannot be inverted so agitation is a side to side sloshing action. My agitation was 5 seconds every 30 seconds. I'd appreciate any thoughts. I just purchased a Stearman SP-445 but haven't used it yet. This is a straight scan of the negative.
