Tried something new this summer...
-
Comments would be appreciated.

I took this at the 2006 Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.
I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have about it...

Just curious to see what people think....

Black and white landscape photography is very new to me. I decided to
try it at Antietam National Battlefield in hopes of recalling some of
the amazing photos taken in that era by Mathew B. Brady.
Please comment and let me know what you think went well and what could
have been better here as I am a fairly new photographer and still
trying to improve. Thanks!

I decided to try something new for me -- to shoot in black and white
at Antietam National Battlefield since I had been looking at some
photos by Matthew B. Brady a short time before my trip.
Please let me know what went right and what went wrong in this photo,
as I am still trying to improve my craft. Thanks.

What do you think of this shot? How can it be improved?
-
Very nice expression -- but it seems slightly off kilter because your two parallel lines -- the tops of the glasses -- are clearly tilted to the left. I might rotate the image slightly to straighten this out, unless you mean to leave the viewer feeling slightly unsettled....
The expression, and the exposure, are wonderful.

What do you think of this photo I took? It was with an Olympus
C5050Z, handheld, with the FL-20 flash with the diffuser on. What
went right with the photo? what went wrong?
Thanks for your time. :)

Thanks for your help -- I do appreciate it. I'm still fairly new to this and it took me a little bit to figure out what you meant by power points -- I'll keep the Rule of Thirds in mind next time I get some shooting in.

...and have tried recropping to get that eye higher relative to the upper edge of the picture.

This is a crop of my shot -- I'll extend the green space in front of his snout and compare to see if that improves it.
cordially,
Kat

Did you use a Lensbaby? The head seems supersharp and the rest of it soft... I could wish that there wasn't quite so much flash evident on the frog's face... I like the angle and the close up...

I captured this with a C5050... what could I do to improve it?
-
I took this along the Wisconsin River... what do you think?

What do you think of this composition?

Alas, they are verboten inside House on the Rock.

Hi all --
Thanks for your comments -- I do appreciate them. Perhaps I should clarify the circumstances under which this photo was composed and taken.
The pictures I took during a daytrip to Assateague are actually of wild horses, who are, as you can see, not terribly frightened by humans. That's a mixed blessing; while it is possible to get close, there is signage all over warning people that they have been known to bite and kick with little warning or provocation.
This one in particular was nervewracking to get, as I was probably no more than thirty yards from him. He had just walked up between me and his herd and stayed there, watching and nickering at me, long enough for me to get this shot -- sans tripod. though I have several shots of this particular horse, this was the best of them.

Interesting -- reminds me of the old Alfred Hitchcock or Bob Hope minimalist charactitures.
-
This was taken at House on the Rock in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
Suggestions, as always, are welcome.
-
Interesting subject -- moody and pensive. The bare trees in the background complement the somber feeling of the monument -- which looks ready to heave a sigh.
-
Recropped....

This is the first time I've attempted shooting lights at night. Any
comments on what works and what could be done better would be greatly
appreciated.

I took this shot of the crumbling NY Pavilion from the 1964-65 World's
