This looks more like my professor back at school when he was grading my term paper!

I like the expression...it speaks volumes!

There are only three things that aren't very black in this shot, the arm, the book and the face giving you that look. I think that adds a lot to this shot.

I'd suggest getting rid of the other hand entirely. Those two fingers on the spine of the book detract from the effect.

It's interesting how something so simple can be so intriguing.

Nicely done. The Choice of black & white was right on.

What film and ASA, what lens did you use, any filters?

That might just be me but I always want to know more about how the photographer did it.

I think thats why photo.net put all that stuff there. :-)

I see no distraction from the small group of men in the lower left. I think it adds to the scale of the shot.

The only criticism I can think of is that the sky seems a bit patchy grainy and uneven, but only at when viewed at the large size choice here online. Most likely thats the scan and not the photo.

Also too bad there wasn't a bit more sun that day to contrast the ships against the sky.

This is a great capture but I dislike the lack of color.

Interesting that you object to using a flash on wild animals. Topside I can see that but most U/W photographers use very powerful strobes, else the overwhelming blues.

Sometimes the blue cast works well but I usually like U/W shots that light up the subject.

Do you believe that the bright flash stresses the animal? Maybe it does.

In my U/W work I've never noticed anything frightened by the strobe. My bubbles seem to be more consistent at doing that. Most sea creatures eyesight isn't as well developed as that of land creatures, I guess.

Gorgeous! The shadows on the large cliff on the right side for the frame are a bit hash but overall a very beautiful shot.

I didn't notice too much haze. Seems like the lighting was perfect except for the cliff.

Not enough color for my taste.

Of course the only way to get the color is with a strobe which would have likely caused too much glare on the glass.

Nice composition, thought and still interesting.

This category is for U/W shots, not necessarily scuba or snorkeling shots.

I think the end result is what is important in any kind of photography. It's a little like the argument about photo's altered in the dark room (especially digital dark room) versus photos created solely with the camera.

Personally I don't think it matters but I do believe you should identify aquarium photos in THIS gallery. Mostly because people in this area of photo.net care.

For an aquarium shot or not this photo is interesting, especially the teeth and pink menacing mouth. Shark swim pretty fast most of the time, so this may have been a very difficult capture.

Excellent composition or foreground and silhouette of diver.

The foreground is a little dark. Maybe you could lighten in up a little in Photoshop.

Ah haaa...LOL.

This is the most original photo I've seen on photo.net so far. Great expression on the face.

Nice composition.

I like the soft focus; it adds warmness to the feeling of the photo.

The little curl on the left works well. The frame is filled with light soft color on the right while the little curl is surrounded by darkness on the right. Makes for a nice balance of composition.

Very emotional shot.

We've all seen lots of scenes from this disaster.

The nighttime lighting adds a solemnness that I haven't seen before in documentary photos about September 11th.

The backhoes are positioned in a way that seems to surround the remnants of the building. To me this seems to suggest workers converging on the disaster.

The upper left hand corner is blowout by the lights and slightly distracting. Not much can be done about that, but maybe some dodging in Photoshop would help.

I like the composition of this shot and the use of the 17mm lens.

Nice colors in the sky & snowy cold frozen earth.

The saturated color of the "Geysir" stone nicely contrasts the cold colors of everything else.

A little dark in the lower right corner but maybe this adds to the harsh feeling of this shot.

The color correction really makes a big difference here.

My rating was based on a general lack of color in the original.

I'd definitely crop out the other divers hand.

Otherwise this is a well-composed shot.

I like the fine sharpness that brings out the texture of the dark fur and the way the those bright green eyes contrast.

It's amazing how different the total emotion of this shot is from the black & white version.

I believe I prefer the B&W.

This photo is so simple yet so very engaging.

I would crop out the shoreline and just have the textures in the water.

I wis this was much sharper.
