fmueller 84 Posted May 2, 2002 A much photographed subject, but I think the lighting makes this shot special. Any comments & suggestions appreciated. Many thanks Link to comment
koska 0 Posted May 2, 2002 Great colours! Is this an original print or was it enhanced in PS? Link to comment
fmueller 84 Posted May 3, 2002 Hi Dejan, like pretty much all pictures in my portfolio this was scanned using a Minolta Scan Dual II film scanner with the Vuescan software at maximum resolution. If there is an objectionable colour cast I will correct it in Photoshop by using curves, usually in CMYK mode. This was not necessary for this particular shot, and I just I sharpened the L channel in LAB mode. I then reduced the size to 800x???, converted back to RGB mode and saved as JPEG. So it is enhanced in Photoshop, but just unsharp masking, not the colours, and there is no print - I scanned the slide. Link to comment
bob stewart jacksonville 0 Posted May 16, 2002 lovely scene, nice composition. Too bad it was less than great light. I wrote that before I read your own comment. I really do not understand the comment that the light makes this special. Judging by the short shadows, this was close to mid day, and to me the light looks harsh, and a fair amount of haze. Later day (or early morning) would bring out more saturated colors. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 24, 2002 You should continue down the road and drive the Eyre Highway across the Nullabor.... come across to WA... you'll get some great shots.... especially up north! Link to comment
mcrodgers2 0 Posted May 8, 2003 Gorgeous! The shadows on the large cliff on the right side for the frame are a bit hash but overall a very beautiful shot. I didn't notice too much haze. Seems like the lighting was perfect except for the cliff. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted November 15, 2003 Frank, On a raw November day in Cental Ontario this scene sure looks inviting. The fact that it's mid day doesn't diminish it's appeal. Today I'm on a PS tear & had a go at this one to see what would come of it. I offer my efforts for your consideration. Since the sky is so plain I thought the first thing I would do is reduce it's influence. I think this helps keep the eye on the subject. And, then, just for fun, I bumped up the contrast a little. (not that Velvia in mid day sun needs a boost) An appealing shot in any case. Best, LM. Link to comment
