Interesting concept! I must say, if nothing else, this image does grab the attention of the viewer and is a challenge. I might have been tempted to use the more stereotypical "black bar censorship" rather than a round PS brush, but I like the idea. Of course, it's the hand covering the face with the sign that really grabs a hold, and the eyes behind the fingers.

Very subtle tones, good use of light and subdued color, and the object balances well with the background.
Wonderful work.

This is a wonderful portrait - from what I'm seeing, portraiture work like this is where you really shine out. There's a real feeling of connection - not just between the two subjects but also with the viewer/photographer. B/W is a good choice for this portrait as well. Nicely done.

Submitted for your approval, one cloudy river sunset photo.

I think this is a good photo that conveys both a feeling of vulnerability and furtiveness. I personally think that this would be stronger in b/w myself, but it holds up either way. The lighting and composition are fine as far as pose but something both my SO and I thought when looking at this photo is that the placement of the left hand is a little distracting - it might have been better to drop it behind the model in shadow so you only see the right hand on the door.

You're welcome! :-) I always enjoy photographing at the Pennsylvania Fest - it's always a great time and a good place to meet interesting people and take interesting photographs. I know I'll be back there in '06 and am looking forward to it. Hope to see you there again.

It's a good montage of images, but for some reason this doesn't work for me - the portrait would have more impact closer on the face and the "props" and flag overlay are distracting to me rather than adding anything.

This is almost unreal! Love the texture and the way the contours just pull me in.

For your consideration - 2 Fishermen - let me know what you think.

LOL! :-) To be honest, it has a ring of familiarity about it.
I took a very similar shot at the Pennsylvania Ren Faire here.
Small world, yes? *GRIN* Fool Hearty gets around. :-)

...of an interesing scene. The weathered fence draws me neatly into the image and keeps my eye travelling back and forth across the scene.
Regarding the sky, I do not think it is blown - I'm seeing tonality in the clouds pretty much all the way through, though there's a little harsh contrast with the landscape itself.
Regarding composition, the only change I might have made would be to pull back a little further so the nearest "cross" in the fence isn't "cut" at the bottom and sides. Regarding the horizon, the fact that it doesn't sit on a "thirds" line here doesn't bother me - it lends balance as there is interesting detail both on the ground and in the sky here. After all, rules are there so you think before you break them. :-)

Great dynamic moving feel to this photo - very well captured moment here with good energy.

What's the foreground object on the left hand edge of this shot? That draws my attenton from what would otherwise be a very arresting photograph. A few steps to the right would have been better I think.

Love the sense of openness here and the "lay" of the land that draws me to the sky.

This looks like a very nice place, but the straight-on angle and the tree cut off on the side (and the trees along the bottom cut off) are distracting. Reshooting this location from a different perspective would probably work better.

This could be a tad sharper, per your own comment, but I think you've caught this very well. The texture of the carpet anemone is very interesting and tends to hold my attention. Although it would have slowed your shutter even more, I think this could have been helped by greater DOF...

The range of colors puts me in mind of summer passing away into autumn very well conveyed in this photo.

Took this photo at the PA Ren Fest this year - decided it would look
good as an "old fashioned" style photograph. I may post the
unmanipulated version later, but wanted to run this one out first.
