Even the pancake-rabbit can't save this thread. What a train wreck!
And I know this is terribly un-PC, but "Donkey Kong"? That's brilliant!
-
Hmmm... what's Al demonstrating in that third photo?
-
I'm predicting a new thread called "Where's a good place to send my Leica for
repairs?"

Personally, I'm not a fan of Starbucks coffee (which I consider horribly overpriced).
What I don't like about them is that they take over entire neighborhoods. I can think
of at least two places in Manhattan where you can stand on a corner and be within a
block of three Starbucks. Manhattan has become a mall and Starbucks is a contributor
to this.

The lack of a RAW buffer seems like a huge shortcoming to me. The idea of having to
wait until the camera finishes writing before taking another photo doesn't sound very
good in the real world. Do you guys find this a huge problem?

Oh, and it goes without saying, but stay safe. From the news reports, it looks like
Westerners are walking around with a bulleye on their backs.

The only way I know to get digital images onto an iPod is to use the Belkin Media
Reader, which sucks. If someone is you using a different method, do tell. You put
your CF card in the reader which connects to the iPod. I tried it for a while and got rid
of it (kept the iPod, though). The Belkin Media Reader is slow. I mean really slow. Did
I say slow? It took 45 min just to transfer a 1GB card (which was only 3/4 full). By the
time it was done, the battery on the iPod was almost crapped out (which is another
problem onto itself). Do a google search for "iPod" and "Belkin Media Reader", you'll
see I'm not the only one having these problems. If you're going digital, I would
recommend using some other HD/digital wallet solution.

Oh, and by the way, if you're registered, go online to the Sunday Times Magazine and
check out the slideshow by Tyler Hicks about
choral
music around the world. Hicks is usually a war photographer, so this was a nice
change of pace from the work you normally see from him. Plus, he does some
interesting things by laying two photos side by side.

It is a good story and great photo. I read the article this morning and it was a
refreshing contrast to the rest of the paper, which was all doom and gloom (Iraq,
terrorism, juror #12). But I like the photo better in color, as it's reproduced online.

Silly, boy. You forgot to turn italics off . Hopefully that does it.

I guess that explains why grant has hairy palms...
-
I prevent fingerprints by always wearing my Hermes Baby Seal Skin gloves when
handling my Leica.
-
PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT THE XPAN!
I'm starting to want one.
-
This is much welcome news because when I go out photographing, I'm always self-
conscious of the fact my camera doesn't match my Hermes ascot.
-
Anyone have sample photos online to look at?
-
Generally what ISO speeds on your digital camera are you using? Just curious...
-
By chance, do you guys have hairy palms?
I have a Rolleicord. It's a solid little camera. It's fun shooting with a TLR. Gives one a slightly different perspective on things.

I love his work. "Knife and Gun Club", "Dorchester Days" and "Exploding into Life" are absolutely stunning books. I can't wait for his new retrospective "Fat Baby" to come out. If you've been living in a cave and don't know his work, you should definitely do some research and look at his work.
I saw him speak at the SVA in NYC last week. He showed photographs from throughout his career and a couple of the documentary films he's done. He left the audience speechless.

I liked how Alex refered to himself in the third person...

I think I'm having an acid flashback...

I haven't had a chance to check in on the forum in almost two weeks. I'm not exactly
sure what happened (I guess posts got deleted). What chaos! People banned! Teary
goodbyes! Self-Reflection on the state of the forum!
Jesus. Everyone needs to lighten up. These things go up and down. Sometimes the
forum sucks, sometimes it doesn't. It's the internet. Put some of this energy into your
photography, your family/loved ones, politics, exercising.... I don't know, into
something that matters more than an internet forum.

New York taxis have illogical rules too. If you have two additional 400 pound
passengers there is no extra charge, but if you have a small suitcase they charge you
$1 extra, even though the bag weighs 10 pounds.

I've taken NYC cabs hundreds of time (often with lots of luggage). I've never been
charged an "extra" fee for luggage. Looks like the cabbie marked you as a tourist and
started making up extra fees.

Some nice shots. I like the lemons/limes shot the best -- good composition and
colors.
Now run away from this board as fast as you can 'cause they'll try to convince you
that you can't take "real" photographs unless you're using a Leica.
