I love my OM1. All mechanical shutter, excellent lenses, and fits my hand like a breast. What's not to like?

I'm interested in sending my used 20D body in for modification to being a dedicated IR camera and was wondering a few things. For my main camera I'm planning on upgrading, so I won't be too heartbroken if the 20D doesn't turn out as well as I hope.
1. Has anyone here used http://www.lifepixel.com/ for their modification?
2. Which filter modification did you choose (as I am debating which of their setups I am leaning towards)?
3. Are you happy with the results? I'd love to see posts of the results too.

I tried quick sample picture of my front yard with the meter reading at iso 100 at 1/500 @ f5.6. To get a "useable pic" the exposure with an 87 filter, and focus adjusted accordingly the exposure was 30 seconds @ f5.6 with the ISO bumped up to 400! I definitely would like to be able to take IR pictures without these crazy timed exposures.

I've hunted, fished, hiked and photographed in wilderness areas for years. I won't ask for permission to do photography, nor will I ever pay for a permit for photography, even if the forest service starts to claim that people must.

I like Tri-x

-

Feels good to get back in the darkroom after several years. A little Tri-x and some Pyro was pretty theraputic. The pyro was still good, after all these years!

-

I still have a freezer full of tri-x. I do like the ilford films too...but found my FP-4 is a little fogged, yet the higher speed tri-x isn't...go figure.

I just dusted off my large format stuff, after a few years hiatus from film photography, and was just curious to see what everyone's favorite is these days.

With the demise of Kodak, what are some of your favorite non-kodak films available in 35mm through sheet film???

-

You will need some fast (ish) glass. The 50mm f1.4 might fit the bill.

Once again, you guys are a veritable wealth of information. Thanks.

I was asked once by my mother in law to take pics at her daughter's funeral. I've never felt so creepy. It was a very sad and somber event as it was.

Though nothing beats a tripod, the tripod gets cumbersome on some of the rides like space mountain. :)

Here are a few hand held night shots from last weekend. ALL are with the 24mm f2.8...not a real fast lens, and probably my least sharp but it whoopes a$$ over my wife's point/shoot.

I'll take a dslr over a p/s for low light any day, even with my worst lens. Which is what I used for all of these shots in one night. Bring an extra battery because you will burn through them quickly.

Matthijs, careful there or you'll cut yourself on all that sharpness.

-

Much appreciated. You guys rock.

-

Thank guys. I'll have to google up those two film and look up their spectral sensitivity to get an idea if I need to use a 29 filter or an ir filter.

-

I've been out of film photography for a while. I'd like to shoot a bit of infra red in med or large format. Is the only game in town maco IR or are there any other infra red films out there?

-

I wouldn't be without my 85mm f1.8 and 135mm f2.0 My next lens for this purpose will be a 50mm f1.4
