Is the y-pod a better solution for camera stability than a monopod !
What do you say !
A web site @ www.y-pod.com will be up and running shortly.
-
This new pod design eliminates camera shake , and allows any shutter
speed to be utilised.
-
This y-pod is ideal for medium format , 1/4 second exposures are
easily obtainable.
-
excellent portrait. What`s the light source ?
-
It looks like a tapestry !

Really nice comp.

I think this picture is best i have come across on photo net. You are missing the point, everything has already happened. The scene now has it`s own magic, i think it`s a brilliant image.

great composition. Works really well

Thanks for the feed back.
The y-pod legs are 10cms in length and 6mms in diameter and made from stainless steele, so stability in that area is not a problem. The rubber boots stop the pod from sliding on solid floors, giving excellent grip when angled towards the photographer or other support, such as street furniture ect. also the rubber boots slide off revealing the spikes you mention.
The y-pods superior stability comes from eliminating lateral and rotational movement.
Any forward or back movement is very easily controled, resulting in much more stability, possibly 3 to 4 stops.
In the free standing position this will depend on equipment, technique and individual ability.
I have carried out tests with the pod in mono mode than y-pod, from the same distance, subject, film speed and focal length.
The results were predictable, sharper pictures, quicker to focus, less fatigue. A graph has been designed that would allow photographers to plot their own results, this consists of a row of shutter speeds plus a column of focal lenghts, by folowing the steps above they would be able plot their own results. I will be posting this shortly.
This product should benefit all photographers whatever their chosen field, or ability by opening new areas of oppurtunity and creativity.
There have been some negative mumblings regarding this product on this site,i believe this product is of interest to all photographers on this site that aspire to take better pictures, using the best techniques and equipment.
