What is the object of the photo? Is it the bicycle? If so, you have cropped the photo too closely.

Is it the snow? If so you have lost the detail of the snow by improper exposure. To emphasise the snow, use sidelight to shadow the surface detail and reduce the contrast.

Is the object the weed? This would be my choice. Crop out the bicycle entirely and do a "brush and ink" high contrast photo of the weed form on the snow. This would be very Japanese in feel.

Alternatitively, draw back and make the bicycle the object so that the snow covered bicycle emphasizes the out-of-season impact of the bike.

I like this one a lot. It's lack of balance feels tense to me - subject is the bike as in the title with weed adding the Zen. Snow simplifies beautifully.

Keep going - maybe read tao of Photography if haven't already. :O)

Is it ironic that someone describes a photo with the word "Zen..." in it's title as being "too empty", or is it the perfect Zen compliment?... t
