  1. First, I do not check pnotonet for more then year now. I do not receive alerts about new comments as well. I just saw those new comments by accident (in fact surprise that so many people found this photo on one day).

Second, I do not have reasons to make stories. My main interest in photography is (and always was) to document behavior of animals I study at given moment.

This frog jumped and, almost accidentally, I pressed the shutter on my first PS digital camera. Yes, glass panel of the terrarium was between us. Yes, a couple of toe pads were touching the glass at the moment photo was taken. But after that frog landed on glass and then slowly slide down. There was no climbing, clinging, hanging, etc.

Attached image not only shows one example of my main interests in photography but also shows what I will do to people who accused me of the lie. :)

It was a great pleasure to see one of my 'famous' (or infamous :)) bat's photographs to be use as an illustration of the abstract summarizing research done on relation between size of the brain and testicles. My photographs of Egyptian Fruit Bat Rousettus aegyptiacus were used to illustrate research paper. This particular photograph was printed in Discover Magazine, May issue 2006. More articles with 'my' bats will be in print soon in another magazines.

Seven, thanks for stopping by and nice words. I am very impressed with your work, both as a photographer and community member. Not many people can dedicate so much of their time to help others. Your idea of 'Picture This' seems to inspire a lot of people. I am checking your page from time to time. Great work.

    All the best, Mark

    Thanks for visits and comments.

Daniel, I am not sure if I understand correctly meaning 'publicity'. If you are talking about my watermark stamp, it is to protect my images. For more then year now I do not upload photos for rating or critique. But it is always nice if somebody stops by and say a word or two. Thanks

Jarek, I could only wish :), I had to fight with light coming from wrong direction and this was best what I could get. Pozdrowienia z Texasu. Mark

Gary, I hope it is not a one in lifetime shot :). Best regards.

  2. Marilyn thanks for visiting my site. I plan to visit Everglades every year but ending up in Texas swamps :) almost every weekend. Maybe next year. Here we have a lot of gators too. The best way to get their attention is to get down to ground level :). Best regards, Mark

Hi Walter. You are right - there is a halo. But it might be from resizing as I am looking at the original and I do not see it. Yes I sharpened the photo as I do not use in camera sharpening at all and yes I sharpened it before resizing - keep forgetting that I might use it as a small image :(. Thanks. Best regards, Mark
  3. Michael I am sorry if I have to disappoint you. Photo was only cropped a little on the left to fit 8x10 format to me this is not a manipulation. Color of water comes from over blooming algae and yes I had luck for no trash near tiger. No changes except some sharpening to whole image as I never use sharpening option in camera. Faults sure (how come you did not pointed the real ones:)). His expression was very short lasting and I wanted to catch it - forgot to set -1/3 compensation and get this ugly burn out spots above the eye and on his mouth. If I wanted I could remove it and then I could not check the box no manipulated. Best regards, Mark

First thanks you all for so many nice visits and comments.

Patanjali: dragonfly was alive a few seconds earlier before this green heron snatched it in the flight - I honestly can not tell if was alive when photo was taken - probably not. But it got nice dip in the water before heron gulp it down :).

Grace thanks. Yes I was there all the time crawling in the mud :). It took me an hour before me and heron became friends and were keeping a distance of 6-8 feet between us without scaring each other. In fact when we established our friendship heron came as close as 4 feet one time because some small fish were swimming near me. I had to back off a little as my lens has minimum focusing distance 6 feet :). In the same time I started to have uncontrollable urge to smoke a cigarette (yes I know this is bad for me and I should stop doing it) and risking loosing friendship I lighted one. My new friend was quite nice - the smoke did not bother it. After a few hours in the mud my body started to get stiff and I had to back off.

I only wish I will meet my new friend in the future and continue our relationship. And take more full frame portraits in better light.

    Best regards, Mark

More people in line waiting for Gorge comments on this one :). This is quite interesting image Carl and quite different from other in this folder, I like the mood it shows a lot. Something is bothering me about bottom ----- I made a mistake to go back and read the comments when writing now - but I am not sure if it is an angle. Best regards, Mark

Walter: it was my pleasure. I also learned something new from you and that is great. If you ever have more question please email me anytime.

Carl: in fact I did (uploaded braking shot) not long ago and deleted it after few hours because of some very low ratings; it should be back when they give us an option to disable ratings :)

Many thanks go to everybody for all comments.

    Best regards,

  4. Wilson you have wonderful portfolio. I love this expression on tiger face, if you only underexpose it half stop to show more details in white hair; but it is so easy to say it after (happened to me too:(). Your work is great and it was a real pleasure to see all your folders. Best regards, Mark
