I can't really add to what everyone else has said in favour of the shot -- it's beautiful. One tiny little thing that bothers me is the digitisation though -- were you pretty liberal with the unsharp masking? It has hint of that sort of sandpaper feel you get with unsharp masking sometimes.

I dunno, I like the flowers, the context. I had it easy -- this was in a park for the conservation of butterflies, so there were loads about.
-
This really caught my eye, very well composed and exposed.
-
Stunning -- great composition and use of colour.

I like the juxtaposition of the very tall man and the street light. I assume most people would have gotten the man in a shallow focus, did you opt for a slightly smaller aperture in order to catch the street light?

Still don't like me eh Enrico? Oh well your loss. Are you friends with Alberto?
Pity, I love Italy and all things Italian. Oh well can't always be right.
-
Yeah I agree, I like the crop, really focuses your eye to the action.

I think I found the guy who did it. I found this url on google: http://www.banksy.co.uk/pressthelist.html if you do a search on google as I mentioned you'll find other anecdotes from people who've seen these. I've only seen the one, on the way out from the Tate Modern. Do you always go around making someone PROVE they've taken a photo. Some of us don't lie, and I for one will mention if I've digitally altered something. What a sad side-effect of the digital era where some people cannot believe anything.
I agree a visual tour de force it is not, but I like light visual humour hence the otherwise-mediocre shots of this rubbish bin, the snail and curdled cream.

No it's not digitally enhanced. It is in front of the Tate Modern in London. There are a few of these epithets around London for some reason. If you do a google search for "this is not a photo opportunity" (use the quotes) you'll find in the 4 pages of hits a handful of people who have commented on similar stencils. Remember to check your facts before making assumptions. ;-)

If you look at Mark's excellent portfolio you'll see the high percentage of animal work, making the reality of this obvious in context.
Absolutely fantastic shot. What more can I say?

Mmmmmm...what an aesthetically pleassing shot. The use of colour is fantastic!
I'm not sure if this would be possible given the depth of focus of macro sometimes, but it'd be nice if more of the front leaves were in focus.

Lovely! My husband has a 6800 and I'm always amazed by the output this small digital has. The composition is spot on. There's a little bit of distortion around the ship's railings which is a little distracting -- was this heavily compressed when scaled and re-saved? It's always a challenge trying to make something web-sized without compression artifacts.
All in all very nice indeed. Keep up the good work.

I agree with the above poster. At first it looks like fun with Photoshop's liquefy but then you realise it's a lovely fractally bumped reflection.

Very irreverant, great stuff. You can't help look at it even though it's kinda gross.

Fantastic detail in that strange ceiling -- well spotted.

No mean feat! It's too bad raters don't understand that which isn't pure eye candy.
-
I like the composition of this! I think the scanner left it a bit soft (happens often), perhaps a tiny bit of sharpening/unsharp masking to correct the soft scan?
-
Clearly the best in this folder. ;-)

Just wanted to show someone the temple, I know it's boring.

Capture the essence of cat: "Look, I have no time for you Hyoo-mons unless you want to serve me in some way...."

Bl**dy hell, that's creepy.
Bloody Tourists!
