This could (imo) have been really a great picture if it had been in focus. At least on my monitor it really lacks sharpness. Great idea though.

Ah, the days when gentlemen wore bowlers and bags could be left in public places without fear of exploding. Great pictures in your folders, although I'd encourage a little more restraint with the blur tool. Regards.

Very nice indeed. I agree that blurring the background improves the composition. Pay attention, however, when doing it, as you have blurred also the tip of the hat! When selecting out the part to blur, a good way to improve precision is to blow up the scale until you can see the pixels (like 300%). A graphic tablet also helps. Of course setting a shorter depth of field with the camera lenses, if possible, would have been a better starting point...

Apart from these technicalities, it is a very original composition, and an insteresting photo; as many other in this folder!

I could see this arrangement of articles being done in a studio with elaborate lighting. A certain strength of personality is suggested here. I particularly like the jaunty angle of the hat.

I like it. Although these days it would be considered possible terrorism leaving a bag unattended in the middle of a crowd of people. Before you know it, the authorities would be clearing the area and bringing in a robot to determine if there are explosives inside the bag.

Back to the picture...the hat is perfectly isolated from the feet of the people in the background. It might have been lost if your perspective were shot from any lower or further away. Good frame and effective DOF used to highlight the subject. The slight shadow is cool as well. For some reason this hat, coat and bag seems to have a personality. It is on stage about to perform an act.

I was drawn to this metaphor of life in the City. It seemed almost

to have a life and personalilty of its own. I never saw the owner

reclaim his property. I waited patiently till the conditions were

right because the scene as I found it was by no means a gift to a

photographer. Your comments will be welcome.

Love this capture of the derby and other left items. To me when I saw this I thought of England. In the dof I enjoyed looking at the crowd as they have walk past your subject. Great capture and I am glad to see this.

I love the originality of the shot. Been through nearly all your portfolio and returned to this one. Focus is a slight problem for me. Will try on my Laptop later. I can see that you had problems will people milling about. B/W certainly seems to be your preference. I think I ought to try more.

Amidst all these portraitsof people, a portrait of a non-person! Very good shot. Though as others have noted, the blurring of the edges of the hat and bag looks odd.
