a la Holga.

Well, it's Fuji 800 ASA shot through a Tamron 28-200 zoom probably full out at 200, handheld, leaning out the window of a car, with my head a couple feet away from trucks and buses on the Interstate. And a very, very, very old cheap scanner -- this is a proof scanned at 300 dpi, worked in PS, then saved as a JPEG, then sized to about 800x500 pixels. I've already worked this quite a bit to get all the magenta out of the blacks - there's still a little rim of tones there that could use work i suppose.
-
I'd rather see this done with more colorful paintings to expand on the idea.

This is one of my favorites - cropped from a larger image, taken at
the main square in Marrakech which turns into a massive throb of
humanity at night, with maybe 100 food stalls like this one, music,
street performers, and on occassion, busloads of tourists.
Shot on Kodak 800, no flash, lots of single incandescent bulbs lit by
tiny generators at each stall, plus cooking fires and some lamps on
buildings around the square.

Uploaded this new version 3/29/02

Shot shortly before sunset somewhere between Merzouga and Erfoud in
Morocco, February of 2000. Possibly a red or yellow filter on the
lens.

This is the best of your transfers I've looked at so far - I really need to ready up on this technique again - love the colors, love the texture.

Please don't besmirch (and devalue) a lovely composition like this with a title like that.
-
This is terrific - feels like I'm reading some sort of futuristic code for "Highway"
-
Nothing but cows for miles and miles.
-
I like the ambiguity - the strange burning in on the upper right looks almost like smoke to me, as if buildings are burning, as if this is a war zone, but i don't think it is - that's the story my eyes are telling me anyway.
-
Fascinating. Lots of possible stories behind this.

Uh, ok - I've clarified the title to read "Came around a corner on the highway, cars WERE lined up on the shoulder shooting THIS sunset."
I pulled over and got in line, to shoot the sunset, not the cars.
-
Very cool, atmospheric - like an establishing shot for a modern noir film. I'm expecting the camera to slowly float up to the window of a cell next.
-
Best in the folder. Mmmm yummy urban decay eat it all up.
-
Found this around a bend on I-25, pulled over to join the other ten
cars on the shoulder shooting it.
-
Thanks for the PS tips - I hadn't tried those, but will now.
-
I must've been shooting for the sign and got the pedestrian as a
bonus.

For the record, this isn't exactly on the beaten path, or any path for that matter. Somewhere on the South side of the island, past the resorts, past the surf spots, and about 2 or 3 or 4 hours or hiking across large, loose, sharp volcanic rock.
-
Awesome location - reminds me of an old REM video - i think it was "The One I Love" where they're wandering around an old burnt-out house, similar piles of clothes and debris.
-
The kite bit is fabulous - for some reason I feel far safer putting my own body at risk (say, kiteboarding) than I would putting my SLR up there!

These two images are fantastic as a pair - I can't think of one without the other - clearly seeing two sides of this fellow.
