  1. I have access to use a FlexTight Imacon scanner and have used it a few times for slides which came out

very well, but I am now trying to use it for negatives and not getting good results. I am trying to scan

Kodak Portra 160 NC and have the scanner set to the right profile, but when I select the image and clikc

the "reset" then "auto" function the resulting image is really off, especially compared to the C-Prints I

made of the negatives. My results are really flat and dull, and the colors are completely off (usually a lot

warmer with a red tint), and my skies are coming out almost grey. I tried manually adjusting the

histograms but couldnt get it much better. Any advice? Im sure it must be something Im doing as its a

pretty advanced peice of equipment. Thanks

  2. I am having a problem with my RZ. I was shooting when suddenly the advance lever seemed

to stop advancing the film, and there for the shutter wouldnt cock. I'm guessing there is

maybe a gear that is not catching from the body to the back? Has this happened to anyone,

    any advice?

  3. I recently bought a Hasselblad 500cm with a 80mm CFE lens for a little over a thousand. Two years ago I bought my Bronica for $800 off ebay, and a few eeks ago when I sold it I got $300. I guess it's good for buyers, bad for sellers.
  4. I'm looking at schools now, and SVA is my top choice. They seem really career based in that they help you get out and get a job once you graduate. Their facilities are really great and have a good selection of equipment to rent. I think one of the down sides is that there are alot of students (don't have the numbers).
  5. I recently went to Italy for a week. The Country side (Tuscany) is very nice. Though Seinna was very nice, it was VERY touristy and I think using large format there would be difficult. Try and find the smaller towns (they almost always look the same), as they are usually more interesting and would be easierto photograph in.
  6. I used to use binders, but soon ran into problems. I would take the negatives out, and not put them back. It also required several binders. I've found using a filing cabinet alot easier. I can quickly pull the negative I need. Print film makes hanging rods that slide threw the edge of the negative sleeve allowing the negatives to hang in place.
  7. I should add that I use an 80mm Nikon enlarging lens. If you are only enlarging 35mm negatives, than a 50mm lens should do (I also enlarge 6x6 negatives which is why I need the 80mm lens). It wasn't cheap, but I'm very happy with it. I use an Aristo cold light for a light source. Having a diffuser plate really helps mask dust and scratches. Some people say a diffusion enlarger will reduce contrast, but I have found this to be completely untrue printing with both concondenser and diffusion enlargers.
