I like this one! The colors are bright and pleasing. One criticism - I wish the either the crop on top was tighter (less headgear), or the complete headpiece was present. As it is clear only an inch or so is missing it's kind of a tease - especially since not much would have been lost from the bottom if the perspective were moved up. But that's a very slight criticism of a very nice picture.
  1. Hey Norman! Another great photo from Montreal. I'm sure it's because this photo has been cropped severely, but there is substantial grain here. However, it really works for me and almost adds a painted effect to me. I wish the photo could be a bit larger, but once again the cropping and grain probably prevent that. The colors are bright and I am really fond of the overall feel of this one!

I really like this photo. The B&W works for me. I do wish there were a couple of inches more in the foreground so the whole left shoe and toes were included. There's a nice feel about the look and pose of the model too - somewhat sultry maybe. Very nice folder too BTW...

Like another reviewer, this may be my favorite from the folder. The colors and DOF on this are perfect. I almost feel as though I am on the ridge with the wind blowing past as the sheep reclines. I'm really impressed by the sharpness and DOF. Perfect.

If I had to pick at something, two things occur to me. The water in the valley is a bit distracting. It almost looks like breath from the sheep. Not much you could do about that. And I tend to refrain from ever commenting on cropping, but I wish the shot was a bit wider so I felt as though the sheep had more space. It just feels a bit constrictive as it is, especially along the right edge. Of course, there may have been obstructions preventing a wider view. In any case, this is a beautiful shot that captures the essence of Denali.

  2. I love the expression on her face. It's that pensive moment right before the tears start to fall (as you said). The furrowed eyebrows, the watery eyes...all beautifully done. I know someone will probably not like that part of the left hand is cut off, but doesn't bother me. The expression on the face, and the eyes particularly, carry this photo.

Very nice photo. It almost looks like an older person pondering a move at an outdoor chess game. Someday she will look back and wonder just what is being debated so seriously. Great moment captured here!

I really like this image as it shows the two cars going for the same piece of track. Nice framing of the cars as well. The light was obviously a bit flat, but there's only so much you can do about that - this is a good motorsports photo. It almost looks like one of those Randy Owens racing paintings that you see sold at some events. Nice job!
  3. Nice photo Butch! This wasn't actually shot in Ashburn was it? I used to travel a lot between Fitzgerald and Cordele and can't imagine where this would have been between the two. All the heron rookery photos in your folder make sense, but this would seem to be St. Simons, Jekyll Island, or somewhere like that... Just curious. Wonderful photo though - quite envious!!
  4. Personally I kinda like this. It certainly isn't a traditional 'portrait', but it's interesting. Not many here are probably familiar with the English band My Bloody Valentine, but it certainly looks like some of the stuff they were using for album covers and videos in the early '90's. Take a look

here to see what I mean. I think the pale blue eyes are another feature that intrigues me. A nice surprise...

  5. The more I look at this photo, the more I like it. It's almost like Sabre is expecting something/someone to appear. I was just thinking that if I had taken this picture I might have named it something like 'Anticipation.' But what if I didn't know this was a sunrise? If you look at it as if it were a sunset, then another whole feeling is given. Kinda neat...
