A little more model, a little less blank and uninteresting wall and you've got a winner.

You nailed it - light, composition, pose, expression... Great!

I have to agree with Brooks Gelfand about the arm in the air, it just doesn't look natural. Her eyes.... Yeah, they're blue alright!

Very, very nice. I like the composition and the light, but the expression is priceless! Great capture.

Excellent use of shadow and great timing.

The faces are a bit too underexposed for my tastes.

I would have liked a bit more sharpness in the figure in the foreground, but it's an excellent idea.

I think a little lower camera position would go a long way here towards making this a real effective image. The basic pose is good, but I don't like her fingers splayed - it's not elegant (for lack of a better word) and makes her fingers look fat. The expression in her eyes is good, but her smile seems a bit forced. The forced smile is, IMO, exaggerated by the high camera position. The lighting is a bit flat, but that's OK, though I'd like a bit of separation lighting on her hair. I just can't get past that high camera position. If the lens were level with her nose or even a bit lower, I think that would erase a lot of what I just typed. :-) Still, I'd bet she likes it!

I have to agree with John Stote, a square crop would make this more effective.

My only suggestion is to crop a bit more on the right, but it's still a captivating shot!

Very cool! Excellent use of Photoshop.

I'd be a lot happier with this image if it were a better scan. The highlight detail in the clouds is blown out and the overall image just isn't sharp. It looks like it was scanned at a low bit depth. I do like the composition, but I dislike that the date stamp was turned on in the lower right corner (easy enough to Photoshop that out).

It's way too dark on the left side. You need some flash to open up that shadow.
-
I wish you had been able to expand your depth of field to get the person in the background sharper. I really like the mood and the lighting you've captured.

The color saturation is a bit high, which makes the darkness of the lower right seem even darker (if that makes sense).

Excellent action capture. The dirt being thrown up from the shoes on the lower right of the frame is an excellent touch!

In close, a wide angle lens, skew the camera... You gotta lovc it!

This was an experiment using a Sunpak FP-38 flash connected to my D50
with an SC-17 cable. The flash was positioned (hand held) in front of
Chessie while I shot her profile. This was one case where it's nice
to have long arms! Working backwards... The exposure was 1/125th @
f/25 (ISO 200), so that would have put the flash about 3 feet in
front of her face.
