5. A fine series that showcases just how well the 60mm Yashikor is capable of performing! I have one of these gems, a grey 44A. I've never run color through it, although that may change once my stash of Efke R100 and expired VP dwindles to nothing. A shame that no one around makes B&W 127 now. Anyway, nicely done!

 7. This indeed is a Leica II, Model D. I have one myself, although an earlier serial number. Everything you've read above is essentially correct, however, the paint job appears to be original and genuine, exactly as my example is. It was made in the 30s after all! :)

 14.
For your requirements, I'd also say the M6 is the way to go. But for the lens I second Stephen's suggestion for the 50/2.8 Elmar-M (late version). It's my standard setup; it's collapsibility make the combination truly compact and the image quality certainly meets or exceeds modern Leica lens standards. It's also an outstanding value price-wise.

A lens alternative also mentioned earlier is another option I use on a regular basis; a LTM 50mm (Summicron/Summitar/Summar/Elmar) with the LTM adapter. Again, superb quality for a very reasonable price.
