I tried that yesterday with backing paper in. The back 'remembers' whether the exposure has been taken or not. If the shutter/mirror is not cocked and exposure has not occurred for the current frame when you attach the back, you will have to turn the film advance wheel. The film will not actually move in this situation. I've only had my SQ-Ai 2 days hence the experientation :-)

I've been using 600ml plastic C*** bottles (think soda drink). 600ml
is I think 20 floz or about a pint for CMS challenged. I'm hoping that
those do not contaminate the chemicals. They can be squeezed to remove
air before sealing. They only last a few times though as the
distortion eventually breaks the material. I have been using these for
developer (ID-11), fixer, stop. I did find a 'goopy' substance in the
stop and had to filter it out with a coffee filter. Other than that it
all seems to work.
Cleaning Film Scanner Sensor (FS4000US)
in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing
Posted
I managed to get a hair in my FS4000US, it appeared in every scan in wonderful focus. After warrantee expires you can easily remove the 6 screws in the bottom. The metal outer cover will slide off easily. There is a mirror, lamp and sensor assembly to clean. I just used a blower brush. I've done it three times now. My main problem is with the holder transport sticking - havn't figured out how to fix that one yet.
Feel free to email me for more detailed info.<div></div>
