Julie, this is a wonderful shot, like a carpet or a beach-towl soaked in color. By the way, where in Melbourne did you take it ? (I lived there before).
-
a truly stunning sight. Great photo, Geoff.
-
Great Photo, the colors and shades work very well together. At first glance it looks like waves in the water.
-
great photo, wonderful balance and color-mix

I agree with Brian, the ropes make it special. Great photo !

Thanks for the comments. In fact, the moment I took the photo, the lady was serving a customer. I took several shots, maybe some with better composition. However the lighting turned out much different already, changing the ambience of it all together. In any case I wanted to avoid the use of flash, which would have destroyed the effect.

Ira, no doubt, this is a wonderful shot. Because I like this great photo, I am adding my 2c and show you how I would have cropped it. Hope you don't mind. Also have adjusted the tones a bit.
-
Roy, I think this is a great shot. However, I think it just needs cropping. If you don't mind, I show you what I mean, it removes empty space. What do you think ?

What was interesting about this store was the antique feeling and the
light. My camera was still on the tripod, so tried to do without
flash.
-
Jason, this is a fantastic shot. The lighting contributes a lot to it. Very dramatic.
-
yes, it really looks like steps. I like the way the photo was taken, very special composition.

This look great. Where was this taken, Kari ? This landscape looks great, is it real ?

This shot was taken in the late afternoon. Seeing the wall with the
birds sitting on top I could not resist to take a photo, although the
sight is not very pretty, at most interesting and a bit movie-like.
My camera was still mounted on a tripod, so I went into hyper-focus
mode, which the birds didn't notice. Washed-out sky has been
exchanged with some Photoshop gradient gray. Need to get ND filter
first...

very nicely balanced. I wonder how this would look like in color, Paulo.

The neon advertising became a cinematic screen. Very original Dave !
-
Steve, you really managed to reveal the location in an inch wide section between the doors. Very orginal photo.
-
John, thanks for asking. Well I say "basic" because when I took this photo, I felt touched. It reminded me that no matter where you go, there are always certain human gestures and expressions which are independent of language, cultural background, life-style or definition of "family" - simple, common or just human. I can't think of a more suitable term right now.
Chuck, by the way, I have changed the title of the photo.

The ship very dwarfted in the presence of the falls. Makes it a fantastic view, great photo.
-
changing location and computer I realized that this composition looks
much different than usual. Readjusted filters in Photoshop slightly
accordingly.
-
well, so far this sky-manipulated photo might be able to capture the
drama of this landscape somehow. However I will be revisiting the
place in end September 2001 and try to get a wide-angle photo with ND
filter, maybe it gets closer to the actual impression one has when
being there.

Great photo, I agree with Viorel about the cropping. I wonder how a color version of this view would have turned out. Myself, I have not yet developed my skills sufficiently that I would load a B&W film into my camera.
-
very interesting composition.

This is a great photo. If I may suggest some cropping: 5% left (wall or something), 10% top and 10% bottom. Raoul, calling the folder modestly "holiday snapshots" is pure understatement. There are many photographs which I wouldn't categorize that way...
