  1. I think that South Beach and it's Art Deco ambiance is a fantastic territory for any photographer, the pastel colours with big blue sky is absolutely superb.I have shot few rolls of slides within very a very short time at South Beach.Don't be shy and go for a nice punchy film like Agfa RSX, Velvia or Kodak UC,a polarizer will be definitely a good helper. You can shoot at high noon and the pics will still look great.I haven't done infra red B & W but South Beach would look very sharp with this choice as well.
  2. if there is any city that loves B & W then it's Prague, you will love this magical place, there is simply no ohter place like Prague ,

Prague has it all, ancient history, modern infrastructure, beautiful women, great beer and much more,

when it comes to lenses, get something wide and a zoom for those art works on churches and rooftops,

my basic travel glass is Tamron 24 - 135 AF,very sharp and it won't break your bank account

  3. when I flew from Prague the last time [2003] and asked for manual film inspection the officer sniffed with this little electronic "nose" the films and I asked him what is that machine good for and he simply answered "it's for explosives",I think that for drug detection they still use junkie dogs
  4. well I visited beatiful Savannah just few months ago and it's a photographers paradise city,I recommend the cemetery downtown,it's a relaxing place with lots of old historical grave stones a wonderful big trees
  5. I have a simple answer for you - don't support with your money the Communist regime of China and buy western made products [if you can find them of course,so much garbage is made in the people's republic but US,European and Japanese photo material is still widely available].I would have to be really desperate before I would pollute my Nikon with some "lucky" film.Would you put cheap Chinese tires on your Mercedes Benz?C'mon man ,don't even mention the Reds.
  6. While travelling around Europe I purchased inexpensive Konica E 6 film

Centuria and had it developed here in Toronto in a lab where I get

always very good work done [ Downtown Camera ].When I projected slides

from this Konica film I noticed very slight purple tinge in the

color. It's very minimal and untrained eye wouldn't probably notice

anything.Otherwise this film seems to be quite sharp and the color

rendition is fine.I think it's little bit more saturated than let's

say Sensia but that may be desired in many situations. What is your

    experience with this film?

  7. Hello,

I don't think anybody of us likes to leave the camera ON for

extended period of time but that's exactly what happened to me.I just

opened my camera bag and noticed that somehow I either forgot the

switch the camera off or I had to unintentionaly move the round

button ON when placing the camera inside the bag.I wonder whether any

damage can be caused by leaving the F 80 turned on.The meter system

is I guess quite sensitive.Has anybody of you done any damage to your

equipment by leaving it ON for few days non stop? Thanks.

  8. I like using my tripod a lot so I'm not concerned with slower speed

but what I like is good sharpness and I don't want to go broke

getting this AF lense for my Nikon N/F 80.I like shooting city

architecture, landscapes and night scenes.I use slide film mostly and

so the sharpness is critical for me.Which wider lense in your opinion

    gives sharp results?Thanks.

  9. Hello,

I think I may be getting soon something more powerful than the

built in flash in my F80.I looked at Vivitar 728 AF and it looks like

an average basic but still good flash for my needs. When I checked a

vendor's website [Henry's Camera here in Toronto] it claims that this

flash isn't compatible with the newer Nikon bodies including F

80.Does anybody of you have any exoperience using this flash unit

    with F/N 80 camera?Thanks a lot, Gejza Cepela

  10. Hello,

last year I found some old B&W 35mm negatives which weren't cut

into strips but rolled. In order to scan them on my machine I had to

first cut them into 5 frame pieces and later I worked hard to sleeve

them.It was an difficult task. The negatives were acting like an alive

snake twisting and rolling back to its original shape. Now the

negatives are wedged under pile of books and when I checked them

yesterday they still look the same and didn't seem to straighten up a

bit.Is there any way to make the negatives nicely flator will I have

to wait another hundre years for the strips to ease up on the rolling

    tendency.Thanks, Gejza C.

  11. It may sound funny but I use lunch bag.Its well isolated and constructed. The top part of this bag has extra pocket that can swallow extra lense and accesories. It works very well.It keeps away the potential thieve and its cheap. You can pick one up for about 12 - 14 $ and thats canadian bugs.I was going to get original Nikon camera case and to ask anybody to pay 100$ for cloth bag is a crime.
