<p>subject motion blur. leaf detail on either side of man's head is pretty good. horizontal lines in clothing are there. vertical lines are not. he is moving horizontally during the exposure. I'm actually impressed with how steady the camera must have been (hand)held to resolve as much detail as is there in the leaves and grass for that shutter speed. also note the toes on the ground (fixed) are sharper than the face, which; at the top of the body, is moving. So yes, this "is an incorrect practice" as demonstrated by the result.</p>

This is well downstream fro the hot springs, toward Great Slave Lake. I didn't stop at the springs this trip, but did 30 yrs ago. -
Yup, it's a lovely area. I was on my way south, past the turnout, had to find a spot to turn around, go back past to where I could turn around again, and by the time I got in shooting position, the shadow was covering the valley by the minute. -

Thanks Jack. I got inside the 'dredge' and was confronted with these shapes and the light was, as you see, pretty cool too. I was unusually steady that day too, as the shutter speeds had to be pretty long. Sometimes life is good.

You nailed it. Having the facial expressions visible really helps tell the story, and the clarity is wonderful. Bronk rider's foot just starting to leave the stirrup and the extended arm of the pickup artist define the moment before the grab. -
