  6. Lovely moment captured well. The subject and composition are both appealing. The presentation could be improved by adjustment to the colour, to compensate for the yellow colour of the (probably incandescent) light source either by preseting white balance at time of shooting, or processing after the shot. If post (after the shot) processing, it would be easier if it had been shot in "raw" mode, but even from the existing jpg, some adjustment can be made, in my opinion. I don't mean to offend by my suggestion, but rather to encourage you to further your skills which are evident by the good points of the photo.

I like it a lot because there is a lot to like. Echo Jack's comments re elegance of pose reinforced by the curves of the furniture. And then it's juxtaposed with the wide-eyed stare, and mouth open(ing) in surprise. Then the pose changes as we look at it to suggest possible launch to action - escape? Are the toes tensed? Huge dynamics with all the diagonals, ominous shadows, and reflections on the background.

    Making a Good Punch

I am impressed with the framing and the definition of the subjects' bodies by the light. Nice work.
  10. <p>@ Steve Gubin yup, Chicago Sun-Times is what I was referring to. thank you</p>
  11. <p>Reminds me of the kerfuffle maybe 2 yrs ago(?) when a 'major' us paper laid off all their photographers. Some predicted doom for the paper, I don't think it happened, not sure ... . Probably the way of the future.</p>

Echo Bill on both the technical excellence and story/ambiguity aspects. My only question was: does it go 'over the top' in the story ambiguity respect? Can a photo become lessened by overage of these elements in the same vein as; say, over saturation in a landscape shot? I get the feeling this is close. But I'm not condemning; rather choosing to take it as a way to lighten the photo by it not taking itself too seriously, with a bit of self-spoof which makes it even better. Pleading indulgence now for my rambling, but forcing textual/analytical process is sometimes therapeutic to my visual response. Cheers.

  14. Echo Marie.... surreal experience. Gonna watch future comments for explanation from those who understand vision on how & why. Congrats and envy.

    "70's High"

Oh lord! I gotta quit for the night. This just oozes out of the screen, into my brain, and I'm done. I may never stop giggling.

    "Underage"

Stunner. I like both the large and small views for what they have to offer.
  17. Never would've of thought a wake could be erotic. Another one best (for me) viewed default size rather than large because the large loses some of it and the whole is so important.

    "Shut Out"

Probably the first photo I've ever seen that made me burst 'oh my god'. Alone. Stunning.

    "Ferry Ride"

The photo is so the way it is.
  20. The body poses and movements work even better at the small view than large for me. Wonderful.

    Courage My Love

particularly enjoying the juxtaposition of this vivid collage of absurdity with the b/w formal dancers alongside in your portfolio. clever design!

    Elephant

Very eye catching with the luminosity and chromatic contrasts, and they eye is easily held by the composition. Once held, my eye comes to the eye suggested in the shadow, and the animal looks back to connect. Classically well done.
