  1. Thanks Mike, this is what I was after in my request. The sub-structures seem to be relevent.
  2. under the deck I took/captured this because "i liked it". But even as I did so, I had no real definition/reason why I liked it. It's presented here pretty much as what I saw, full frame, white balanced (in LR} on the white pipes. I still kinda like it, and still don't know why. I'm hoping someone with more knowledge than myself (a pretty low bar!) of image design/structure, or whatever can flesh out whatever can flesh out what's here. The only thing I can come up with is the juxtaposition of the delicate little flowers with the coarse plumbing parts and other junk. OR, and quite possibly a larger truth, there really is no appeal. Just a hallucination on my part. If so, say so.
  3. "stark and frozen" is at the heart of this photo. That's what defines the gesture. Likewise the 'flatness'. Not all visual tools apply to to every photo, and your choice(s) make the success. More dynamism would make it a completely different photo.
  4. Thanks Mark. I agree that it probably should remain outside LR's scope from a puritanical perspective that it is more a graphic design featue as opposed to an image processing feature. I do like the effect in some situations as a separation of the image from the background.
  5. ....shameless repost... tete-a tete-a-tete-a-tete
  6. B/W always emphasizes the face
  7. @Mark: can the thin edge border be done in LR?
