judyroush 0 Posted February 1, 2008 You really caught the joy of the moment! It's a pleasure! I've never seen a fiddle like the one in this shot. It's transparent? Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted February 1, 2008 Getting just the right moment was huge on this, but the tones you've achieved are quite special. I'm amazed at how you did this, as I assume there was no flash. Looks like you had a good thing going at O'Malley's. Link to comment

thadley 15 Posted February 2, 2008 A beautiful image that has been captured with expertise. I like the clarity, light, dynamic range, the subject, expression, background and choice of shutter speed which gives the sense of motion. My personal and artistic preference would have been to include all of the musician's left hand. It is possible that the missing hand gives the image a bit of tension but not sure that tension is required in this case. Regards, Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted February 2, 2008 I'm pleased that you like this shot. It was done in very dim light by pushing the ISO pretty high. To answer a few questions: The violin is not transparent, it's an amplified intsrument with a bowed half-frame around highly sensitive pickups. The body is "absent." I, too, miss the fingers on the neck. I didn't crop them out. This fiddler is a dynamic and animated performer, and he literally danced out of the frame as I shot it. It is a flaw, but I like his expression so much that I chose to go with this image despite the problem. Many thanks for the generous comments. Link to comment
