Glad you're back, Jack! Nice to see your picture from Osaka! Wonderfully captured this cyclist looking at you at the moment of the shot, plus lights and shadows! An interesting background with a variety of plots, each of which could be a separate image. Well done! Bravo! Sincerely, Tatiana

Hi Jack,

I'm glad to see you here again! This photo of a man riding a bike and looking into the camera immediately stood out as one of your photos. Although I can't read Japanese and thus can't be sure, the place he passes seems to be some restaurant or bar, judging from the signs and bottles in the image. The cyclist rides the only clear horizontal line line in the photo, passing all the netting and restrictions of the ultimately urban environment behind him, maybe the only direction he can move into freely. I like the not exactly trustful look he throws at the camera and the shadow cast by the front wheel of the bike. Kind regards, Vincent

Tatiana - Thanks a lot. Nice to get a real comment after all the emojis on Instagram where I've been posting for the last couple of years.

Hi, Laurent, nice to meet up with you again. Wandering through the photo sites, a little time here, a little time there. I've read there were some changes here but I haven't been able to spot any yet. Looks like the same place I left 2 years ago. I notice my photo received 1,700 or so views in just 2 days. I didn't even know there were that many members left. I wonder who does the counting.

Vincent - I have to hand it to you. In the years that I've been away you have remained a model of consistently intelligent commentary. Thanks you very much.

Welcome back Jack, A very beautiful, well composed street image, easily attributable to you. The author was able to capture that single moment when something finally happened and eye contact confirms the moment. Continue to amaze us with your other beautiful images , ciao Giangiorgio

Jack, the others have seriously beat me to the punch. Yet I see two of your trademarked elements -= the bicycle (this instance with rider - a bonus) and the diagonals. Actually, there also are two permanent verticals that divide the image into asymmetrical thirds. I've always felt that this makes a metaphysical statement. It does my heart good to see you on PN again, even though I suspect you won't stay for long. - - My best always, michael

It is so educational to read the comments on your image. I generally do not have the ability to be so insightful. I feel your work more as a zen like experience that expresses levels of meaning into a unity that can be felt. Privileged to view your work. Glad you are back.

One of your extraordinary street photos, Jack! No need of such a bulky framing I think, though! My sincere compliments! Cheers to that! PDE

Ah.....shiatsu....The man is looking right at you in an odd and reciprocal way. He looks at your lens - but he does not really see you. He, on the contrary, is being so carefully observed, finally making true and deep "eye contact".....and then..... all the environment he is in. Unmistakeably and profoundly yours. It seems you know each other, having a whole conversation in 1/x of a second.... I bow in respect, and silence should carry the rest of the message. DG
