Giangiorgio Crisponi 477 Posted March 31, 2020 The old mill. The new Nikon D850 allows you to invert color negatives. This is a Kodacolor photo I took 60 years ago with my first camera, the legendary Bessa Voigtlander 6x9 cm format, inherited from my father. It is an old mill that no longer exists in a country in the interior of Sardinia. In these quarantine days I am dedicating myself to digitizing the old negatives. Pierre Dumas 285 Posted March 31, 2020 Giangiorgio, you took this picture 60 years ago in color?! I started to take pictures five years later and only in B&W and three years later I had my first darkroom, only B&W! This picture is a nice reminder of the old times! Complimenti! PDE Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted March 31, 2020 Giangiorgio, I'm quite happy to see that you are posting again. Picking up on what Laurent stated, your current project is worthwhile, not only because it occupies your time, but also because it honors your father's memory. I'd wager that you have a high-quality scanner, which resulted in this image's quality - in terms of lighting, color, and detail. Regarding the quarantine - My wife and I reach the end of a "requested" quarantine of 14 days today, resulting from flying home from Israel. But we're continuing it voluntarily until it is safe to be out and about, and around people. Stay safe, my friend. - - My best always, michael - - Ciao! Link to comment

Giangiorgio Crisponi 477 Posted March 31, 2020 Dear Michael, thanks for your interesting observations and compliments. As I mentioned in my first comment, I don't use sophisticated scanners but I photograph negatives with the Nikon D850 which transforms them directly into positives with a high definition. Continue to take care of you, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
bernath 2 Posted March 31, 2020 A nice photo testifying older times. The quality of scanning and most likely the original color negative is excellent. I concur with your note to Patrick. Our quarantine here in Rome has also been going on for about a month, but neither my wife nor I are bored. I wish you and all of us good health and stamina, ciao Sandor Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 477 Posted March 31, 2020 Dear Sandor, I do not use the scanner but I reproduce the negatives with macro optics by taking advantage of this fantastic function of the Nikon d850 which transforms negatives directly into positive in both black and white and in color. Thanks for your nice comment and for the constant support, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
