Giangiorgio Crisponi 477 Posted August 23, 2018 Young flamingo injured, the footprints of animals of prey on the mud suggest that he should get up as soon as possible and run away before they could come back . Nikon d500, Sigma supertelephoto 300-800mm, f/5,6, 1/2000sec, ISO 100. Thanks for your comments Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted August 23, 2018 Quite a dramatic scene, Giangiorgio! I agree with your appraisal of the footprints, but I wonder whether this bird has the means to stand and then to fly. What I like most is the combination of emotions. Link to comment

foureyes 3 Posted August 23, 2018 oh,....poor flamingo, painful to watch, yes I agree, the little footprints show that there will be some action later,....nice shot Giangiorgio ! Link to comment
vincentoiseau 83 Posted August 23, 2018 Hi Giangiorgio, this is indeed a scene that is hard to watch, since the footprints suggest that the bird faces a sure death if the flamingo can't get up and fly away. Very well documented and presented. Kind regards, Vincent Link to comment

tai 3 Posted August 24, 2018 Strong emotional shot, Giangiorgio, it hurt to look! I would like to hope for some chance of a successful resolution of the situation. I wonder if birds are able to help each other and is there a chance to get support from people? Colors, shadows, details of textures reinforce the image tension . Sincerely, Tatiana Link to comment

Giangiorgio Crisponi 477 Posted August 24, 2018 Thanks Tatiana for your beautiful comment. The flamingos live together in hundreds of individuals aggregated, facing danger all run away at the same time, if someone lingers they do not wait and he remains abandoned, as far as the people facing an injured animal they try to rescue him, environment permitting Link to comment
setsail728 15 Posted August 25, 2018 First and foremost, a stunning photo. And the patterns of cracks in the river bed (???)) add quite a bit to the shot. As for the poor bird..well...I've been a veterinarian for 49 years. I would say the only chance this bird has is if some good samaritan picks the bird up, gets its out of certain harm's way, and takes it to some wildlife rehabilitation center. Even there, the bird would have to be very lucky to regain some semblance of normal flamingo life. These birds are so delicate they can't tolerate much out of their ordinary and survive! Good luck to it! Link to comment
