WJT 675 Posted July 22, 2005 Reworked and submitted from earlier. This fellow was catching one fish every 20 seconds. He was quite the fisherman. I think this looks best when viewd larger. Thanks. Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted July 23, 2005 Walter, this is very nice. I like the nice natural setting. That water must have really been moving to get that great motion in the water yet still stop the action on the heron. Once these guys learn how they are incredibly efficient at fishing Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted July 26, 2005 Got one, thats right, a good catch on your part. Beautiful bird. Cheers, Sondra Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted July 27, 2005 Hi Walter: He got the fish and you got the Great Blue Heron on film. The composition, sharpness and detail are all exquisite while the color "palette" looks as if were arranged just for this image. I especially like the symmetry of the composition and the way the Blue Heron and the blue stream seem to flow together almost as one in relief against the rocky area the upper third of the frame.--jim Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted July 27, 2005 Nicely cropped, Walter. Movement on the right and stillness on the left. Well-balanced and nice color. And you are right, it definitely looks better larger - so you have a 80 X 100 hanging in your study? Link to comment
colin carron 58,923 Posted July 28, 2005 I like the impression of the moving water here. I can almost hear it. By my reckoning the 300mm lens is about equivalent to a 150mm in 35mm-speak. How close did you manage to get? Do you find the Pentax + 300mm lens useful for weight training? :-) Link to comment
WJT 675 Posted July 28, 2005 Hi Colin. Actually, I got pretty close to this guy, he was so busy stuffing himself with all those minnows I don't think he was concerned about me at all. The 300 is not too bad as far as MF lenses go, much lighter than the 400! This particular shoot I wasn't carrying the camera; I left it in the car. When I saw this fellow I ran back, got the body, lens, and tripod, and he was still gorging himself. Thanks Barry and Jim for your visits and thoughts. Thank you too to Sondra, Jamie, Mari, and Bob. Always welcome. Regards. Link to comment
